Indonesia Itineraries
Overview

The Indonesian archipelago contains a sprawling chain of over 13,000 tropical volcanic islands, placed across the equator. It is one of the most diverse and exotic nations on Earth and the sheer variety of experiences on offer in Indonesia is mesmerizing. From picturesque Bali with its Hindu temples, rice paddies, beaches and volcanoes, to the remote island of Sumba, there are many opportunities to explore the local culture and traditions, partake in the excellent cuisine and enjoy the world class beaches and diving. With religions ranging from Balinese Hinduism to Islam, Indonesia is rich in culture and heritage. Our favourites range from seeing the active Mount Bromo volcano in central Java, to meeting orangutans in Kalimantan, to visiting the awe inspiring UNESCO World Heritage site of Borobudur. Wherever you go, you’ll fall in love with this enchanting archipelago of clear blue seas, pristine deserted beaches and gentle breezes carrying scents of spices and flowers.
This is a country of diversity, from the volcanoes soaring through the clouds and terraced hillside rice paddies of Bali to the remote crystal-clear waters of Raja Ampat, epi-centre of the Coral Triangle, which boasts some of the best scuba diving in the world. Raja Ampat, meaning Four Kings, is a magnificent archipelago comprising over 1,500 small islands, cays and shoals in Indonesia’s West Papua province, which centre around the four main islands of Misool, Salawati, Batanta and Waigeo.
Bali “Island of the Gods” is truly a unique location, being not only a place of outstanding natural beauty, but also the only island in the country whose official religion is Balinese Hinduism rather than Islamic. Bali offers the best combination of cultural and beach holiday escapes with its exotic cultural delights and some of the best beaches, resorts, villas, spas and hospitality on the planet.
The different cultures and people of Indonesia offer warm hospitality and the hotels in Bali are some of the most luxurious in the world, and come with impeccable levels of personalized service. The Luxe Voyager’s highlights for Indonesia include a trip to Komodo Island to see the prehistoric Komodo dragon and a picturesque journey by bike through the countryside of Ubud, past vibrant green rice paddies and ancient temples.
