Baraza Resort & Spa Zanzibar is a family-owned boutique hotel on a 240-metre stretch of Bwejuu-Paje Beach. With a string of prestigious awards and accolades (coming from Condé Nast Traveller through to TripAdvisor), this five-star all-inclusive property is set to take over the island.The beach is a playground of activity or relaxation. The on-site Water Club will assist you with anything from kitesurfing to pedal boats and the Dive Centre will get you snorkelling or diving the magnificent coral reefs. Take a bike ride along the beach, try your hand at swimming pool volleyball and frisbee beach tennis, or learn to do anything – from speaking Swahili to cooking or palm-weaving – on the beach. After a busy day, the Frangipani Spa will relax and revitalise you.
The 30 villas are all spread around a beautifully manicured garden filled with bright bougainvillea flowers. Each has a lounge area, terrace, sun loungers and private plunge pool. With only 30 villas, no one villa is very far from the beach or the main areas. There is also a Presidential Villa which comprises two bedrooms with a private garden and larger plunge pool. Facilities at Baraza are superb, with a well-equipped children’s club, large outdoor swimming pool, large spa with lap pool and yoga room, a gym and two tennis courts.
There are 14 one bedroom villas and 15 two bedroom villas, as well as one Royal Sultan two bedroom villa. All the accommodation villas are designed to characterize classic Swahili architecture featuring dramatic arches, cement Baraza benches and intricate hand carved cement decorations. Our chef has designed a menu which features the very best produce that the island has to offer. We are inspired by Arabic, Indian, Persian, Asian and Swahili flavors using the local Spices for which the island is famous as well as our favorite continental offerings. Every evening features a different influence showcasing the islands produce and spices.
