Discover the beautiful surroundings of the High Atlas Mountains in a uniquely traditional way with one of our resident mules. As you would expect, mules
demonstrate a different combination of physical and psychological traits from their horse and donkey parents, and can be identified by their large donkey ears and long horse tail. Contrary to popular belief, mules are not stubborn. They are very intelligent and patient and loyal to their owners.

Going to Marrakech for the day or heading back to the airport but fancy seeing a bit more of the country on the way? This is a great way to take in the unique and spectacular scenery of the Kik Plateau without committing to a full or half day out. Book the car 45 minutes earlier than planned and your driver will take you through Moulay Brahim, over the Kik plateau (the views of the mountains are genuinely some of the best you can get), past Takerkoust Reservoir and bring you into Marrakech through a more westerly route.
This 72 par 5888 metre course is the private property of King Mohamed VI and was the preferred course of his father Hassan II. Located close to Marrakech, it was built for the Pacha El Glaoui in 1923 and designed by architects Arnoud Massy and Gustaves Golias. Each course has a limit of 4 people per round.

Within the Kasbah’s walls, the 18 individually styled rooms, suites and tents, as well as the common areas, are decorated with an eclectic mix of Arabian, Indian and Far Eastern antiques and artefacts. These have been lovingly collected over time by the Kasbah’s former owner, a renowned interior designer and antiques dealer. Located in the gardens are ten stunning and spacious Berber Tents, some with their own Jacuzzi. Named after the Berber’s traditional Moroccan charcoal grill, the “Kanoun” restaurant serves up magnificent Moroccan, African and international dishes and fine wines with fireside bar and breathtaking terrace, the Pool Bar and the Rooftop Bar.
The 28 rooms and suites are scattered about the property amid the beautiful landscaping, ensuring a high degree of privacy. All of the suites have either a terrace or a balcony, one has a private pool, while the Master Suite is a mini-Kasbah set over two floors with three bedrooms. Also included are 10 Berber tents with private decks, some of which also have private outdoor whirlpool tubs.
Rooms are individually decorated with antiques and furnishings collected by former-owner and antiques dealer Luciano Tempo, giving them a rich exotic style. As a renowned antiques dealer and interior designer, Luciano brought together artefacts from all over the world, many of which feature in the bedrooms. Each room has a uniquely descriptive Berber name which tells you something about it.
There are three Superior rooms, one looks out over the front courtyard, the other into an interior courtyard and the third forms part of the three bedroom Master Suite and has a large terrace and spectacular views over the Atlas Mountains. The Superior Room in the Master Suite can only be booked separately within 2 months prior to arrival. The rooms are between 30- 36 square metres.
All seven Deluxe Rooms have a balcony or terrace. One of the Deluxe Rooms forms part of the Master Suite and interconnects with the Deluxe Suite with pool (Kasbah Tamadot’s only interconnecting room). All Deluxe Rooms have a garden, pool or mountain view, the smaller the room in this category the better the view. The rooms are between 31- 33 square metres.
All four Superior Suites offer a private balcony or terrace and are typically larger in size than the Deluxe Rooms, again the smaller the room in this category the better the view. The Superior Suites have a sitting area and are more private, they can also accommodate a roll away bed for 1 child. The suites are between 34- 44 square metres.
Of the rooms in the main building, the three Deluxe Suites occupy the premium locations for views of the valley and Atlas Mountains. Larger in size and with a sitting room, the smaller the suite in this category the better the view. These Suites can accommodate extra beds. The suites are between 25 – 50 square metres.
Deluxe Suite with Pool
Offering wonderful uninterrupted views of the Atlas Mountains, this room is located on the ground floor of The Master Suite and has its own private pool with a large terrace, sun loungers, table and chairs. With a separate living room, floor to ceiling windows and patio doors leading out to the pool terrace, this room can only be booked separately within 2 months prior to arrival. This suite is 50 square metres in size.
Our ten luxurious Berber Tents are perfect for those looking for a little more adventure. Soak up the views on your private deck equipped with sun loungers and space for outdoor dining and six suites have their own Jacuzzi. All suites have a king-size bed, large rolltop bath, a terrace, sun loungers and outdoor dining. The tented suites are perched on the hillside with stunning views across the Atlas Mountain range and the valley below. The tents are 55 square metres in size.
The Master Suite is a miniature version of The Kasbah sitting out on a promontory and featuring three special rooms. Located near the glorious infinity pool the master suite more is ideal for families and features three bedrooms, a terrace and a private swimming pool. The building itself is rich in architectural detail and affords complete privacy. Within there is a Deluxe Room and a Deluxe Suite at the lower level with a private pool, both generously laid out. These rooms can interconnect. On the upper floor is a compact Superior Room with a huge roof terrace. This configuration is perfect for a larger party, or those seeking a true escape and complete privacy. This Master Suite is 112 square metres.
Named after the Berber’s traditional Moroccan charcoal grill, the “Kanoun” restaurant serves up magnificent Moroccan, African and international dishes and fine wines with fireside bar and breathtaking terrace, the Pool Bar and the Rooftop Bar.Breakfast is included within your accommodation rate and this is served in Kanoun Restaurant or on the terrace next to the pool bar (weather permitting). In addition to freshly baked bread and pastries, juices and fruit, you are welcome to order cooked dishes and Moroccan specialities from the à la carte menu. We can also arrange for breakfast to be brought to your room on request. Lunch is usually a very casual affair served around the pool or at the pool bar (weather permitting). There are shaded areas available if you want to take a break from the sun and enjoy a light meal. In the evening the menu and the setting will vary. Join fellow guests for pre-dinner drinks before dining in the main restaurant, on the roof terrace, by the pool terrace, or even around the reflecting pool. Our à la carte menu is always available, but we also serve traditional Berber feasts family style as well as multiple course tasting menus with Moroccan and international themes.
Kanoun Restaurant & Roof Terrace
With an intimate fireside bar for pre-dinner cocktails and a stunning dining area complete with wonderful views, Kanoun Restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine. The food we serve marries local produce and flavours and is served with a great selection of international and Moroccan wines. Kanoun restaurant has two terraces to choose from, one by the pool and one on the rooftop. Food is a mix of sophisticated Moroccan, African and international offerings, and there’s an impressive wine list. There is a pool bar and a fireside bar in the Kanoun restaurant.
In the Berber language, Asmoun means ‘a place to get together or meet’, and the lounge is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the valleys below. The Asmoun lounge is a souped-up Berber tent on the inside, with colourful textiles and rugs, and souk-sourced lanterns, and the less-traditional addition of a bar and a few stools. We think it’s a perfect spot to spend the afternoon soaking up the Moroccan sunshine. Or fancy a cocktail? Soak up the afternoon views with a pre-dinner tipple. Its terrace, naturally, comes with views of the Atlas’ most eye catching high-rises.
Aside from the indoor (heated) and outdoor pools, there’s a four-room spa replete with hammam and Watsu pools, a fully equipped gym, two tennis courts (floodlit), a billiards room, library and a kids’ club in the school holidays. Beyond the ramparts, High Atlas trekking, mule riding, golf, camel riding, quad biking, paragliding and guided excursions await.
The four-room Asounfou Spa offers signature treatments from wraps and facials to massages and hammam treatments. There are also Watsu pools, mud rooms and hot springs to soothe aching muscles.
