PROPERTY HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Eolo embodies the spirit of Patagonia, its indigenous roots, the personal experiences of the first European and criollo settlers and those of the adventurers from across the world who still head for this legendary land today. This magical lodge is located on an estate that stretches over 4,000 hectares near El Calafate, on the route to the Perito Moreno glacier.
  • Here in the valley of La Anita, nothing can disturb the tranquility. Set off and explore unspoiled nature, relax in the indoor pool and savor delicious cuisine while taking in the incredible views of glaciers, the largest lake in Argentina and the Andes Mountains.
  • Inspired by ancient Patagonian ranches, Eolo perpetuates the heritage of indigenous peoples. It’s a unique introduction to the region and its glaciers. In the centre of 4,000 hectares of grounds, the hotel enjoys a prime location between the town of El Calafate and the Perito Moreno Glacier.
  • At the heart of the windswept steppe, the Eolo Patagonia Spirit is committed to have a low environmental impact by melting into the landscape. The hotel has only 17 suites, all with spectacular views, allowing nature to absorb tourism without leaving a negative impact on the environment. The decoration of each suite pays tribute to the different species of local fauna.
  • We offer you exclusive activities on the estate: horse trekking, mountain biking, trekking, and bird watching.
  • It’s the perfect starting point from which to discover Patagonia with awe-inspiring views over the untouched Patagonian steppe.

ACTIVITIES:

Eolo

We suggest guests reserve at least one day for touring EOLO and its surroundings. There are many activities that are exclusively available to our guests. The hotel has its own guide who coordinates all of the outdoor experiences: trekking, mountain bike, bird watching, four wheel drive outings, canopy and horseback riding tours.

Perito Moreno Glacier

The greatest attraction in the area and only a 50 minute ride from the hotel. Once inside the National Park, one or more of these options may be chosen: a) main viewpoint plus walkways in front of the glacier b) short duration boat cruise along the glacier’s front wall c) trekking or walk on the ice using crampons. The latter alternative may be of a short or long duration, depending on preferences.

Upsala Glacier and Lago Argentino

The Upsala glacier is the largest glacier that flows from the Lago Argentino and the Spegazzini is one of the most impactful. Access to these is only a 30 minute ride from EOLO to Puerto Punta Bandera. Once in Punta Bandera, there are many options: a choice of boats allow for the possibility of navigating Lago Argentino through its icebergs, you can also visit old, traditional estancias; ride on four wheel drive vehicles through the area, kayak on the lake or trek in this beautiful setting.

El Chaltén and Others

El Chalten is the national trekking capital and the perfect destination from which to see – and admire – Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, Viedma Glacier and Lago del Desierto. The town is two and a half hours away. Those who wish to experience this adventure but prefer not to stay overnight in El Chaltén have the option of doing it as a daylong excursion.
Guests who have more time may add other alternatives like four wheel drive tours, a visit to the Ice Museum (Glaciarium), hikking in the Roca Lake area, fly fishing or a city tour of El Calafate.

EOLO Patagonias Spirit

Eolo is a luxurious and remote ranch-style lodge, located in Argentina’s breathtaking Patagonia region, enjoying panoramic views on the eastern face of Mount Frías from within a 3,000 hectare private estate. Eolo is an outstanding and unique Relais & Chateaux property which is set on an exclusive hillside outside of El Calafate and embodies the spirit of Patagonia, while also offering attentive service and fine cuisine. The lodge itself has been built in local style using traditional materials and has the feel of a sophisticated estancia with just 17 spacious en suite rooms, each with stunning views of Lago Argentino, Torres del Paine or Brazo Rico.

There is also a library overlooking Torres del Paine and on a clear day, the famous towers can be seen from the property. The property also has a pleasant and sunny courtyard shielded from Patagonian winds, indoor swimming pool and sauna. The impressive surrounding countryside plays host to a wide range of exciting outdoor activities including mountain biking over unique tracks and trails, horse riding on Mount Frías, bird watching, trekking in the Anita Valley and excursions to the jaw-dropping Perito Moreno and Upsala glaciers. The service at Eolo is second to none and truly makes this the most luxurious accommodation available in the entire El Calafate area.

Each of the 17 rooms was conceived in a way that guests can enjoy a profoundly restful sleep and are also able to relish in the contemplation of the scenery from the intimacy of their room.
The pastel colors and the simple lines share the space with antique furniture, which envelops guests in the spirit of a typical southern Argentinian estancia.
The guest rooms have telephone, WiFi, central heating – which may be set at individual preference – and a full set of amenities. The rooms do not have a TV. EOLO aims to foment a dialogue between our visitors and their surroundings so instead of a TV screen, guests will find cozy couches set in front of large windows with a view that is a true feast for the eyes.

Eolo Patagonias Spirit Restaurant

Restaurant

The hotel’s gastronomy brings together the best of the two worlds that compose EOLO: our chef – Juan Pablo Bonaveri – who has been in charge of the restaurant for the past five years – uses and optimizes regional products while, at the same time, applying international cuisine techniques and aesthetics. The result has his personal signature, one which values our origins and heritage without losing the cosmopolitan touch. This balance is present in every one of the dishes that we offer our guests.
Breakfast may be accompanied by the mesmerizing sunrise, lunch in front of the immensity of the scenery, teatime is the time to get to know our delicate selection of blends accompanied by some exquisite pastry pieces. The bar is also an ideal place to relax – before or after dinner – and to exchange anecdotes and experiences of the day’s journey.

Eolo Patagonias Spirit Bar

The bar is a delight for cocktails and chats pre or post dinner and cheery staff magic up a notable Negroni to sip as you gaze out at the sunset.
