ACTIVITIES:
From the exclusive beaches of Whitehaven to the scenic reefs below, see the island and ocean in a whole new way.
Reef waters are typically cooler from March to August, and fish are likely to be biting are Mackerel, Black Kingfish, Giant Trevally, Queenfish and the occasional Yellowfin Tun. From September to February, in the summer months, game fishing is amazing, with the warm reef waters enticing larger fish to the region. Full and half day fishing trips aboard the 12.5 metre (28 foot) Sun Aura, a state-of-the-art game fishing vessel. Resort chefs are happy to prepare the day’s catch to your exacting specifications, too.
This is much more interesting fishing for younger guests with continuous activity juggling hand lines on the shallow reefs, or rod and reel in 60 metres of water. The spawning time for Bottom Fishing is generally September to February while arch to August they are usually in their prime condition.
Learn some snorkelling tips and tricks and gain confidence before heading out on an adventure.
The beauty and seclusion of Blue Pearl Bay is showcased within infinite views of the Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands. Hike to the secluded beach to enjoy snokelling in a bay home to colourful coral and a kaleidoscope of fish.
No qualifications are required to enjoy the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. Instructors provide safety and dive coaching before you head to Blue Pearl Bay. In the shallows you will refresh safety skills, and then take off for a guided underwater adventure tour of The Maze, a labyrinth of brilliant coloured coral heads, followed by the Fish Bowl, an area just teeming with fish all around.
The PADI Scuba Diver certification gives you more independence for future trips, covering theory, safety and buoyancy control. It includes pool skills and two dives at Blue Pearl Bay, a stunning location with a variety of landscapes for training, including The Maze and Fish Bowl. On your trip to the bay there is the exciting prospect of spotting whales or turtles.
Our dive professionals take you to the best spot of the island, Blue Pearl Bay, where you will encounter Priscilla, the giant maori wrasse, school of small barracuda, bumphead parrotfish, and amazing coral formations of pine cone forest.
Windsurfing, paddleboarding, and even catamaran sailing — there are many unique and exciting ways to explore this island paradise.
Get up close to the spectacular corals and tropical waters with a Reef Dancer — our semi-submersible vessel moored in the waters nearby. The more adventurous will enjoy tube rides, water-skiing and wakeboarding.

The new-look Hayman offers 166 rooms across three distinct wings fronting the Coral Sea: Pool, Beach and Lagoon, plus a handful of private residences. For larger groups and families wanting privacy with access to hotel services, the lavish and striking private residences sit invitingly on the hillside, with sweeping Coral Sea views. The upgrade has substantially improved the size and quality of the rooms, many of which are double the size of the old ones, with equally large bedrooms and living rooms, and private balcony or (on the ground floor) direct access to the garden or pool area. Bathrooms are lined in pale marble, with spacious showers and Hans Grohe taps and baths big enough for two. Bedrooms are equipped with a mini-bar, a tray with a kettle and Nespresso machine, TV and iPod dock, and a large comfortable four-poster bed with good reading lights and a bedside master switch. The six beachside studio-style villas, designed by Kerry Hill, are the most stylish place to stay, each with a courtyard plunge pool and the option of a children’s room at the back. The three top-floor penthouses are the most luxuriously appointed – one designed by Diane von Furstenberg. Best views are from the Beach Wing; rooms in the pool wing overlook the pool, and are shaded first in the evening.

With beautiful views over the lush gardens, Hayman® Lagoon Rooms feature a private balcony, spacious en suite bathroom with separate shower, bath, double vanity and open-plan dressing room. Connecting or adjoining rooms are available upon request.
Hayman Ocean View Room
