One of the greatest joys of fishing in and around Lizard Island is the ease of access to some of the world’s greatest fishing spots. Just 15 minutes by boat and you will arrive at the inner reef and a further 35 minutes and you will be at the outer reef. Whether you’re a seasoned big game fisherman, or it’s your first time in the chair, our Marine team will create a fishing experience that meets your wildest dreams.
Experience some of the most picturesque reef and marine life by simply stepping off the beach – this is one of the major attractions that makes Lizard Island like nowhere else. The “Clam Garden” is only a short swim from the beach at Watson’s Bay, and excellent sites are also located at Anchor Bay, and Sunset Beach.

Renowned for it’s scuba diving and snorkeling, Lizard Island is surrounded by spectacular coral reefs, ribbon and lagoon reefs. What distinguishes Lizard Island from many other reef islands is it’s close proximity to the best known diving location in the Great Barrier Reef, Cod Hole. On shore, discover secluded, pristine beaches by foot or motorized dinghy with a gourmet picnic just for two. Other activities on Lizard Island for guests to enjoy include game fishing, bush walking, sailing, glass bottom boat trips or treatments in the luxurious spa. The restaurant at Lizard Island, has an open veranda overlooking the beach and ocean in a relaxed and intimate setting. Lizard Island has 40 rooms. The Garden View and Ocean View Suites all have a classic understated elegance and Bose sound systems, CDs and iPod connectivity. The Villas have large decked areas with room for comfy chairs and a hammock and have access to a string of private beaches. The suites are open plan with alfresco daybeds and The Pavilion is a private luxury retreat.



The Villa
The introduction of The Villa has set a new aspiration for accommodation, privacy and service at Lizard Island. The Villa is secluded, sitting atop a ridge and commanding uninterrupted views across Sunset Beach and the Coral Sea. The Villa is the ultimate accommodation option for families and groups of friends. Sleeping up to five people with two bedrooms, the spacious suite offers privacy and striking ocean views. A highlight is an extended balcony with outdoor dining furniture and an exciting 8-metre plunge pool, a perfect area to bond.



The Pavilion
Perched high above the Coral Sea and set on the point of Sunset Bay, The Pavilion combines complete privacy with a spectacular 270-degree panorama of Anchor Bay, Osprey Island and Sunset Beach.


Beachfront Suites
Set in a broad sweeping arc along Anchor Bay, with easy access to the main Lodge, Beachfront Suites offer captivating sea views and each has a private pathway leading directly to the beach. Disabled access rooms are available.

Oceanview Plunge Pool Villa
Set high on Sunset Bay and providing sea views over Anchor Bay or Sunset Beach, these Villas offer privacy and easy access to a string of secluded beaches. Select Oceanview Villas now have the added luxury of a private plunge pool.

Osprey’s restaurant serves wonderfully fresh fusion cuisine in a picturesque venue overlooking the ocean. They can also organise gourmet picnic hampers for beach side outings. The Bar & Lounge are open all day for drinks and with the comfortable sofas are a great place to curl up and read a book out of the sun.


Salt Water Restaurant
Simple and relaxed, Salt Water Restaurant is in an idyllic setting allowing you to take full advantage of the 180-degree ocean views and the blazing evening sunsets in a design that is fully open to the landscaped lawns and gardens that slope down to Anchor Bay. Here, you will enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout your stay.
With a choice of seating right next to the open air verandah or the more relaxed banquette/couch seating – you can select a different seating location and view each time you dine at Salt Water. One morning it may be looking out to Watson’s Bay and the next to Osprey Island.
The menu changes daily and is driven by the freshest local produce from the waters around the island and the coast and from the hinterland of the mainland – much of which arrives on daily flights. With an accent on fresh seafood combined with the flavours of modern Australian, Asian and European cuisine – our Executive Chef welcomes the opportunity to chat with you about the menu to ensure that the Salt Water Restaurant experience is one to remember.


Driftwood Bar & Wine Cellar
Located in the main lodge, Driftwood Bar serves evening pre-dinner drinks from a menu that is rich in local and international wines and specialty cocktails. The long bar is the social hub with many reconnecting with others they have meet throughout the day. For those wishing to enjoy a private drink – the lounge seating is perfect or take a short walk out onto the lawns to watch the sun set.
The private Cellar is a visual talking point. Our bar team are well versed and trained in the treasures it holds and would love to assist you if you are wishing to upgrade your wine selections at dinner. Lizard Island wine and beverage list is inclusive, however, if you wish to select from the Cellar list, there will be an additional charge.

Marlin Bar
When you arrive at the Marlin Bar it is like stepping back in time – as the Bar remains almost untouched from its original rustic style and ambiance that has thrilled sailors, guests and deep sea fishermen since the 1970’s. One concession to this has been the introduction of a wood fire pizza oven; we invite you to enjoy a stroll down the boardwalk and enjoy authentic pizza and a glass of wine in this iconic location. Marlin Bar opens on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday is beef and burger night, Wednesday is pizza night and Friday is tapas night.
Private Beach Picnic Hampers
With 24 beaches to select from, you can select your own picnic basket content the night before and then following day, take your picnic by a private dinghy and motor to a beach of your choice, or have one of our Marine team drop you off and return later to collect you at a predetermined time.The true luxury of this signature Lizard Island experience is that you will have your chosen beach to yourselves.Private beach picnics are included in your Lizard Island stay.


Sunset Beachside Dining
Two private beach pavilions sit on Anchor bay – each commanding spectacular views of the nightly sunsets. Here, you feel as if you are the only people on the island as our staff discretely serve the seven course dinner with complementary wines.Prior to your dinner, you will meet with our Executive Chef to discuss and design the 7-course degustation menu with accompanying wines.
Lizard Island has a wonderful pampering spa which uses natural Australian products, a freshwater swimming pool, library, tennis courts and a gym.
