The Hotel Sacher Wien is one of the world’s greatest luxury hotels in one of the most culturally significant cities in Europe. This beautiful traditional hotel is a landmark building in historic Vienna. Founded in 1876, this old building has been recently renovated to a high standard, with modern touches but still incorporating the traditional Austrian style. The Hotel Sacher is in perfect location, right opposite the State Opera House and close to the Hofburg Palace and the Spanish Riding School. From here it’s easy to explore the shops and museums of Vienna as well as the royal palaces and parks. Of course at the end of the day, you can enjoy a coffee and a slice of beautiful Sacher torte, Austria’s favourite type of chocolate cake, invented by Austrian Franz Sacher in 1832 for Prince Wenzel von Metternich in Vienna, Austria.
Franz’s son, Eduard, opened the Sacher Hotel in 1876, and ever since then it’s been the best known hotel in the city, frequently by politicians, celebrities, and VIPs. Still in private hands and family-run, the hotel is lavishly furnished. Home to over 1000 paintings and countless antiques and artefacts, it’s almost like staying in a museum. Guests at the Sacher really feel part of the city’s rich cultural history.
The Hotel Sacher has a glamorous history and is located right in the heart of Vienna. A combination of state-of-the-art amenities, state-of-the-art technologies and the “certain something” make for a timeless style. The internationally renowned French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon created an ambience in the typical Sacher style throughout the hotel. Great attention was paid to ensuring that the historic features – such as our magnificent crystal chandeliers – were preserved. At the same time we added modern pieces to accentuate the “Sacher experience”.

The luxurious suites offer two bedrooms, a salon and a marble bathroom with separate shower, bathtub and underfloor heating. Each of the suites has been individually designed with precious antiques and original oil paintings. Also the view is incomparable: One looks at the opera house, the Kärntnerstraße, or the impressive neoclassical facade of the Albertina.

Penthouse Presidential Suite
Numerous classical works, as well as an opera by Claude Debussy from 1902, bear the name “Pelléas et Mélisande”. This myth is also the namesake of the Penthouse Presidential Suite, which impresses with a size of 110m². In addition, the suite can be connected to the Nurejev Suite to extend the total area to 175m². The color red determines the appearance of the suite – starting with the curtains over the furniture to decorative elements. An open fireplace, a large dining table and a separate study are only part of the luxurious features. Impressive works of art, precious carpets and a floor made of the finest wood complete the elegant ambience. The entire suite has an individual character, which always resonates with the guests.

Bel Floor
On our Bel Etage are the seven newest suites of the Hotel Sacher Wien. During the redesign, valuable interiors were rediscovered and painstakingly restored – this is how historic Vienna can be experienced with all the benefits of state-of-the-art and family comforts. The new Bel floor suites not only set the highest standards in terms of comfort and equipment, they also make the unique, historic interior of the Hotel Sacher accessible again. Thus, during the redesign of the present Vienna Philharmonic Suite, both a historic stucco ceiling and a paneled parquet floor from the time of origin of the house were rediscovered and restored in detail. On the Bel Etage there is also the Presidential Suite – one of three large suites not only reserved for royal houses, state visits and stage stars.
Choose from a fine selection of Austrian and international dishes served in our two restaurants or meet your friends before visiting the Opera in the legendary Blue Bar. In our cafes you can enjoy a piece of original Sacher cake and the typical Austrian Enjoy coffee house culture.

Restaurant Rote Bar
You have the choice: Either you dine in the winter garden overlooking the opera or in the restaurant under crystal chandeliers. The glass fronts of the winter garden can be opened in summer, creating a spacious terrace. A pianist provides musical accompaniment.

Restaurant Green Bar
“Sacher’s philosophy of combining tradition with modernity is also reflected in our two toques kitchen. For example, a traditional dish is a freshwater fish from the region. The modern aspect would be exotic ingredients that are not always easy to find.”

Blue Bar
Legendary at Sacher: the Blue Bar. It is the ideal place to meet friends before the opera or enjoy a drink after dinner. Magnificent shades of blue, radiant crystal patterns and comfortable couches create an opulent atmosphere reminiscent of turn-of-the-century Vienna.

Sacher Eck Vienna
With a wonderful view of the Kärntner Straße and the Vienna State Opera, coffee and chocolate in the new Sacher Eck are taken to a new level – not only in the proverbial sense, because the culinary experience spans two levels in unmistakable and cozy Sacher style. Here, in addition to the unique specialty of the house, the original Sacher cake, other exquisite original Sacher products and hearty delicacies by chef Dominik Stolzer seduce, while passionate baristas prepare the incomparable Viennese coffee variety. Two séparées, alluding to the long history of the house, are perfect for meetings and celebrations, demonstrating that tradition fits perfectly in the here and now – a unique “mélange” of over 140 years of passion and experience and the highest modern amenities and services.

Café Sacher Vienna
The Café Sacher Wien provides the ideal setting for getting to know the typical atmosphere of Austrian coffee house culture – and, of course, to spoil yourself with a piece of original Sacher cake.

The Salon Sacher seduces its visitors into the world of the French golden twenties and is an experience for all the senses. It is a meeting place to enjoy exquisite delicacies with extensive discussions and lively music.
