The historic centre of Vienna is, in fact, a UNESCO World Heritage Site itself – a true reflection on how utterly breath-taking this city is. While you travel from museum to museum, don’t forget to stop, look around and take in the unique architecture.
The historic palace is a World Heritage site and Austria’s most visited attraction. For centuries, it was owned by the Habsburgs and is mostly in its original, historic condition. This Baroque complex lures visitors with one of Vienna’s most beautiful parklands, the oldest existing zoo in the world and the Gloriette, which sits high above Vienna. Spend a day at Schönbrunn and enjoy a day full of Austrian history.
Welcome to the world capital of classical music. Since 1869, the Viennese State Opera House has shone with unique architecture and a special atmosphere. Enjoy a 40-minute tour and learn some interesting facts about the history of the house, the opera business and the architecture. As the former “living room” of Mozart, Strauß and Verdi, the Viennese State Opera House still exudes the unforgettable charm of those bygone days.
An amusement park meets nostalgic dreams and a green lung! An amusement park for many, a place of nostalgic dreams for some and a green lung of relaxation for almost all, the Vienna Prater offers varied entertainment and culinary possibilities with something for everyone. The Schweizerhaus – the Austrian counterpart to the Bavarian Hofbräuhaus in the middle of Vienna’s Prater – is the first meeting point for hungry visitors. In the huge garden, you will be able to sit side-by-side with locals and enjoy the famous Stelze with an original beer.
Recognised in the last two years as a piece of World Intangible Heritage by UNESCO, Viennese coffeehouse culture lives up to its world-famous reputation for providing an oasis of comfort. Traditional and typical Viennese coffeehouses lure with a wide range of styles of coffee, a variety of patisserie options and memorable Viennese charm. Whether you want to try a Gugelhupf, a classic Sacher cake or an apple strudel, you’re sure to find an enchanting, delightful and sweet treat.
As the former historic epicentre of the vast Habsburg Empire, the Viennese Imperial Palace remains, today, one of the most culturally important monuments of the city.
Visit the home of the Imperial Apartments, the Imperial Treasury, the Sisi Museum or the world-famous Spanish Riding School. Today, all of them represent the city’s historic imperial splendour right in the modern centre of Vienna. It is the perfect starting point for even more sightseeing tours.
The 880-year-old Viennese landmark is considered a must-see sightseeing point during a stay in Vienna. Not only many tourists but also many locals often visit the “Steffl”. Thousands of details make St Stephen’s Cathedral a historic architectural and art treasure, offering a lot of new things to discover.
The city’s horse-drawn carriages are as much a part of Vienna’s traditions as the Sachertorte and Wiener Schnitzel.
Day after day, they show tourists from all over the world Vienna’s beautiful sights from a different and unique perspective. A ride on one of the two-horse carriages is the highlight of any visit to Vienna.
