CHI, The Spa, is complemented by comprehensive Health Club facilities with advanced fitness equipment.
The hotel’s 509 rooms are located between floors 30 to 59, which means there isn’t a bad view from any of them (although it is worth splashing out a bit extra to gawp at the 632-metre Shanghai Tower five miles away in Pudong). Thick carpets woven with elegant blossoms, hand-painted silk screens and large white marble bathrooms complete with concealed TVs ensure the rooms feel boutique rather than boring.
Featuring bright décor in a functional layout, the Deluxe Rooms meet the needs of the modern traveller, and offer stunning views of the city.
Premier Rooms feature a delicate floral motif exuding modern oriental style. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide an inspirational view of the Shanghai skyline.

The expansive Horizon Club Executive Rooms provide a spacious integrated work and living space separate from the bedroom for a seamless transition between business and leisure. These 62 sqm rooms also provide guests with access to the Horizon Club and its exclusive privileges.
The harmonious design of the Executive Suite offers a bright and airy feel, enhanced by abundant natural light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows. It comprises a large separate bedroom, living room, closet and bathroom with bathtub and shower facilities.
The strong art deco style and bright tones of the Deluxe Suite are a testament to the traditions of Shangri-La. The bedroom door is set beside the entrance and will lead you to a commodious dressing room and roomy bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
The Grand Suites offer an elegant space brimming with classic design elements and artwork, seamlessly blending classic touches from East and West. Each of the four suites is named after the landmark bridges in Shanghai – Fengpu, Yangpu, Nanpu and Songpu.
Shangri La Suite
The Shangri-La Suite is the hotel’s luxurious and impressive accommodation. A dedicated butler service ensures guests enjoy uncompromising levels of luxury, and personal service. It is brimming with grand design features including an eye-catching chandelier and provides breath-taking city views from several vantage points within the suite.
Somewhere for every day of the week. Standouts include 1515 West Chop House and Bar, which has its own cows specially bred in Australia and a roaring open-fire kitchen, and the Summer Palace, which serves wonderful Cantonese cuisine, from dim sum (in a nice touch, guests have the option of enjoying breakfast here or at the ground floor Café Liang) to succulent roast meats and clay-pot stews.
Diners are spoiled for choice at Café Liang’s International buffet, which serves a wide variety of popular Asian and Western dishes. During the spring and summer, outdoor dining is available on the wooden deck overlooking the piazza.
Combining South-eastern Chinese cuisine with Cantonese flair, Summer Palace enhances the dining experience with a poetic visual dreamscape. Inspired by traditional Chinese ink paintings in dynamic colours, and commonly accented with motifs of peacocks, architect Andre Fu translates this vision of colours in a series of contemporary dining chambers.
The 1515 West Chophouse and Bar
The 1515 West, Chophouse & Bar combines the aesthetics of an Old Shanghai movie set with the décor of a classic American bar and grill. Meat lovers will be delighted by the restaurant’s generous portioning philosophy. The restaurant features The 1515 WEST’s signature Australian beef, dry aged for 45 days. The beef comes in 4 cuts, handpicked by our executive chef. The Raw Bar provides fresh oysters and seafood from around the world. Champagnes, vermouths, sherries, white wines and a cellar featuring a selection of New World wines and reds ensure that wine sommelier Jasper Sun always has the best recommendations at hand.
Calypso Restaurant Lounge
Calypso Restaurant & Lounge offers casual Mediterranean dining, and is one of the area’s relaxed and versatile dining spots. The venue is housed in an airy two-storey structure, which is modern with detailed traditional touches. Its tall glass panels retract in the warmer months to encourage al fresco dining.
TSURU serves classic Japanese kaiseki cuisine, with fine interior decor inspired by the traditions and culture of Japan. TSURU comprises a sake bar, a restaurant with seating for one hundred guests, a beautiful sushi and sashimi counter and two VIP rooms.
Guests can enjoy refreshing beverages and impeccable service at our inviting Lobby Lounge. The hotel lobby represents a new kind of opulence. The design reimagines the classic Shangri-La style, but without the use of its traditional chandeliers.
There’s a pleasant indoor swimming pool (the rule enforcing swimming caps was less enjoyable), 24-hour gym staffed by buff personal trainers, and an excellent spa.
Unaffected by weather conditions, the heated 25-metre indoor sky-dome lap pool provides another option for relaxation or exercise all year long.
CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La is your personal sanctuary, where holistic treatments are based on time-honoured methods shared by Chinese and other Asian cultures. Luxurious yet down-to-earth, CHI is a place for your peace and well-being. Intuitive, skilled therapists with a caring touch rejuvenate the body and soothe the senses.
