PROPERTY HIGHLIGHTS:
- Located just off the coast of Southern China on Hainan Island, this 50-acre paradise embraces the sea as its inspiration, featuring a stunning one-of-a-kind private ocean — the first of its kind in China — as well as two sparkling pools.
- Hotelier supremo Ian Schrager’s first opening in Asia is a design resort like no other – it counts futuristic design, China’s first ‘private ocean’, and a kids’ club with fairground-style bumper cars among its features.

- The family-friendly hotel features a multi-generational entertainment zone called Playland with bumper cars, arcade games, a rock climbing wall, a gigantic tree house and kid’s club.
- In partnership with the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, the resort offers a unique lifestyle shop containing one-of-a-kind works of art from more than 180 local artists and designers that can only be found at The Sanya Edition.
- An elegant and ethereal atmosphere awaits at the aptly named Sky Bar, where you can enjoy cocktails alongside a rooftop pool that sits away from the family-centric areas of the resort.

Situated south of Lingshui County, Nanwan Monkey Island is the only tropical island-type nature reserve for macaques – a state protected animal in China. Due to the wild environment, the variety of plants, fruits and numerous grottos, the island is regarded as the perfect paradise for monkeys.
The 108-metre tall Statue of the Bodhisattva Guan Yin is an amazing national treasure and is currently the third tallest statue in the world.
Composed of five hills covered by rain forests, Luhuitou Park was named from an ancient tale when a hunter chased a hillside deer to the end of the hills. Today, it’s a popular park for astonishing view overlooking downtown Sanya.
Yanoda is originally a phonogram consisting of Ya, No, Da, indicating the numeral words “one, two, three” in Hainan dialect. The rainforest valleys contain different rainforest eco-system wonders where a stone staircase twists up at both sides of huge rocks and suspension bridges expand across waterfalls.
A live-museum which preserves and shows the cultural heritages of Hainan Island.
Only a 15-minute car ride from the hotel, this butterfly-shaped island is the best place for scuba diving in China.

Inspired by the sea, The Sanya EDITION is an exceptional new destination on Hainan Island, just off the coast of Southern China. In ancient times, Sanya was known as “the end of the sky and ocean,” a description that still rings true for The Sanya Edition, a new lush tropical hideaway. Located just off the coast of Southern China on Hainan Island, this 50-acre paradise embraces the sea as its inspiration, featuring a stunning one-of-a-kind private ocean — the first of its kind in China — as well as two sparkling pools. All of the 506 guest rooms in the horseshoe-shaped hotel have ocean views. In addition, 11 hotel villas are nestled into a terraced hillside with ocean views, private pools, and pavilion spaces.
Nearby attractions abound, such as shopping at luxury designer outlets, but once guests cross the entrance into The Sanya EDITION, they become part of an experience that is other-worldly. The aquatic theme continues throughout the futuristic-looking property, including the indoor spaces. The lobby boasts a lotus pool and live bamboo grove accompanied by a carefully curated art gallery, while all of the 500-plus guest rooms, suites and private villas afford ocean views. At Edition’s first Asia hotel, gondolas can transport you to an extraordinary floating restaurant or you can keep your toes in the sand with a cocktail in hand at the oceanfront cafés and cabanas.
All of the 512 guest rooms in the horseshoe-shaped hotel have ocean views. The warm and inviting interiors exude a comfortable, simple sophistication, using light oak finishes and airy fabrics that evoke the beach. Surrounded by views, bathtubs are positioned in the main room, making the space even more luxurious and open.

Understandably for a resort of this size, the cuisine is broad to suit all tastes. The Market restaurant has food stations from breakfast to dinner – the former lays out everything from French pastries to dim sum; the latter pizzas to open wok cooking. More interesting options are available at Barbacoa, a Balinese-inspired beach club serving Indonesian curries and fish straight off the barbecue, and The Jade Egret, a cocktail bar that also deals in small plates – the ‘Baos & Buns’ section is excellent. A rooftop bar completes the set. Xian Hai By The Sea is a restaurant located on glass-boxed floating platforms. A fish pond on the central terrace will offer up the day’s freshest catch.

Rooftop bar
Located at the highest point of the hotel, facing the South China Sea, the rooftop pool, bar and lounge provides a sophisticated adult pool and relaxation area. The space is a relaxing hideout during the day, and transitions at night with cocktails, appetizers and a rotating calendar of high-profile DJ’s performing throughout the week.

Xianhai By The Sea
The custom designed spaces, with teak interior and rich upholstery are covered with a shaded canopy and from afar, the restaurant appears to be a collection of glowing lanterns skimming the water. Served in a variety of culinary expressions, guests will enjoy upscale fine dining indoor a la carte, outdoor al fresco or in a private dining room.

The Jade Egret
At ocean level, The Jade Egret offers modern European cuisine, pre-dinner cocktails, and small plates in a yacht inspired space. The restaurant offers the opportunity for a sophisticated and social exploration of flavor that encourages guests to customize their dining experience.

Private Table At The Floating Deck
Take an idyllic evening boat-ride to the center of our Private Ocean on a customised boat, where guests dine at a private table on an illuminated floating platform and enjoy a custom menu prepared for their special occasion in an intimate setting.

Beach Barbacoa
A seafood grill inspired by the Jimbaran Bay in Bali. With sand underfoot and an eclectic mix of furnishings, it’s a lively and fun spot for all ages. Dine in barefoot luxury under starry skies or take in the enchanting views as the sun sets into the sea. Situated in comfortable outdoor cabanas on the sand, the romantic setting features lanterns hung on the trees, festoon lighting, and outdoor fire-pits.
A custom designed display kitchen features an open grill and kitchen counter clad with Hainan brownish, grey lava stone in a natural finish. The outdoor dining area is surrounded by a lush landscape shaded by willow trees and highlighted by white canvas canopies supported by bamboo poles, an eclectic mix of furniture, hammocks, and teak lounge chairs surrounding a bonfire pit.

Pool Bar
The Pool Bar is an open architectural pavilion with vertical aluminum-wood slats covered with flowering vine and ivy and lush green hedges in planters. During the day, the horizontal flat roof overhanging the structure provides a shaded semi-outdoor lounging area. At night, it is dramatically lit from below with under water pool lighting fixtures. Oversized daybeds and chaise lounges offer plush relaxation arranged around the pool on the tropical hardwood decking with shade provided by 12 foot high Plumeria specimen trees and outdoor umbrellas.

Market At Edition
All-day dining destination, Market at EDITION references Sanya’s history as a trading port at the southern-most tip of China on the ancient maritime Silk Road. The timeless design evokes an old Chinese warehouse where guests congregate for breakfast and enjoy a vibrant marketplace atmosphere. Market at EDITION features a series of food stations offering the finest selections of local and international cuisine, including a raw bar, Asian noodle dumpling station, bakery kitchen, hot kitchen with open fire grill, wok cooking and Dim Sum steamer, a juice bar and a “grab and go” counter.
Strong off-shore currents mean guests are forbidden from swimming in Haitang Bay, so instead there’s a 20,000sqm purpose-built ‘ocean’ for watersports. This sets the bar for the other facilities, which include four more freshwater pools, an ESPA spa, a bookshop run by a Beijing collective, gallery, gym and fabulous children’s area.

Spa
Spanning over 2000 square meters on two levels with extensive gardens and a seamless connection to nature, The Spa at The Sanya EDITION reflects a sophisticated approach to beauty, wellness and wellbeing equally attuned to modern living and local customs.

Pool
The large salt water swimming area (over 4,000 sqm/ 43,000 sq ft) of the Private Ocean features iridescent glass mosaic tiles, lapping onto the crescent shaped sandy Private Beach with seamless zero-edge entry into the sea.

Gym
A state-of-the-art 24-hour gym with the latest in strength-training, weight, and cardio equipment and rooms for group or personalized trainings sessions is located on the ground level.
