Lesic Dimitri Palace Korcula LD Restaurant

Lešić Dimitri Palace is an exquisite Relais & Chateaux hideaway in the heart of the medieval town of Korcula, overlooking the sparkling Adriatic sea. Lešić Dimitri Palace and its Michelin star restaurant offer a refined elegance that represents the rich history and culture of its destination. Celebrating the marriage between old and new, this boutique bolthole has just five unique and spacious suites, restaurant and spa. They were designed by an Asian-Croatian team of architects and interior designers and inspired by Korčula’s famous resident, Marco Polo and his travels along the Silk Road which people say started from this beautiful island. The 18th Century Bishop’s palace was lovingly restored over five years and now offers luxury apartments with full hotel service for those wishing to escape, create, relax or unwind.

It offers guests the chance of experiencing the essence of Dalmatia, through an intimate yet unobtrusive level of service, from a team passionate about the destination and sharing it with its visitors. Our goal is to celebrate, share and promote the best that Korčula has to offer, from the richness of its history, culture and scenic beauty, to the breadth and quality of its gastronomy.  Spend the afternoon relaxing at the spa, taking the palace’s sailing boat out for a spin or losing yourself in the magical streets of the old town. Sundowners and klapa music bring on the evening as another day in this island paradise rolls by.

The former 18th-century Bishop’s Palace and several adjoining medieval stone cottages underwent a five-year renovation to form this unique little boutique hotel. Original features such as elegantly carved stone lintels have been retained, while interiors, by Thai architect Attayut Piravinich, are modern and whimsical. Each of the five apartments (aka ‘residences’) is inspired by the Silk Routes travelled by Marco Polo, who was supposedly born in Korčula. With minimal signage, it’s much loved by wealthy visitors seeking a discrete hideaway.

Each residence is different, and varies in style and size, from one to three bedrooms. Design is plush and idiosyncratic, and all residences have kitchenettes. The smallest, Ceylon, at street level, has vaulted ceilings and one double room. Arabia, on the top floor, is a vast open-plan space with a white-tented ceiling, a double bed, a freestanding tub and a separate shower cubicle. China has two double rooms, red and black cushions, Chinese lamps, an enormous freestanding tub and superb sea-view terrace. India, on the ground floor, has two double rooms, each with a big hot tub, and a private flagstone courtyard. Venice has three double rooms, red wooden-beamed ceilings, an impressive dining space and a magnificent suspended carved-wood balcony.

Our commitment to keeping the original features and layout of the palace in tact, inspired the creation of individual residences on every floor of the building, instead of classical hotel rooms. Thus we have five beautiful residences ranging in size from one to three bedrooms, offering luxury boutique style accommodation. They are fully serviced but allow independence with fitted kitchens and dining facilities, either for self-catering or private dining using our chefs. The palace’s design pays homage to Marco Polo and his Silk Road adventures with subtle themes from the route’s different regions integrated with restored original features and exquisite handcrafted furniture.

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik Classic Room

Ceylon - 1 Bedroom, 45 sqm

Ceylon residence is on the street level, located under the vaulted ceilings of an original medieval cottage. Intricate detailing and wonderful use of light and textiles give hints of South Asia, but within a Korčulan context.

Lesic Dimitri Palace Arabia Suite

Arabia - 1 Bedroom, 103 sqm

This incredible suite is reminiscent of Arabia. It has breathtaking and unparalleled 360-degree views of the Pelješac channel, Korčula archipelago, rooftops and Mount Ilija. Cool and relaxing open-plan living provides an atmosphere of romance and luxury.

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik Villa Odak Deluxe Room

India - 2 Bedrooms, 115 sqm

This beautiful residence on the ground floor of the Palace offers enchanting accommodation with two beautiful bedrooms with oversized jacuzzi bathtubs in each one. The separate living and dining rooms are perfect for quiet relaxation or entertaining larger groups. Gentle influences from South Asia are apparent in the rich fabrics, marble and stone. A private courtyard provides an enchanting haven. Escape from the heat of the island for private relaxation within the heart of the town.

Hotel Excelsior Dubrovnik Junior Suite

China - 2 Bedrooms, 113 sqm

Subtle influences of Chinese design invoke a flavour of Asia, but without distracting from the Korčulan context. The opulent side of Asian design is emphasised with a vast bathroom with enormous bathtub central to the room. The beautiful terrace, with stunning views over the Pelješac channel and Korčula archipelago, provides a wonderful space for sunrise and for relaxing at any time of the day or night.

Lesic Dimitri Palace Korcula Venice Suite

Venice - 3 Bedrooms, 120 sqm

For a long time Korčula was under the influence of Venice and this residence takes you back to Venice at the time of its grandeur. The 120m2 piano nobile with its high, stained-red ceilings is as impressive as it would have been three centuries ago and a private balcony encased in ornate carved wood extends this wonderfully spacious living area. All three bedrooms have ensuite bathing facilities with king sized beds and plasma TVs in each room. All beds can be split to create twin-sleeping arrangements.

LD Palace is moored to simplicity. This strengthens our creativity; our team always works imaginatively to create something extraordinary out of the catch of the day, wild island plants and hand picked seasonal delicacies from the central Dalmatian archipelago. Our food has a clean expression, rooted in Korčulan tradition. We also have our own organic kitchen garden some kilometres out of town. This supplies us with fresh seasonal vegetables through the year.

Lesic Dimitri Palace Korcula LD Restaurant

LD Restaurant - 1 Michelin Star

We celebrate the traditional food of the sea, navigating the seasons faithfully with bold flavours from our Head Chef Marko Gajski. Located in Lešić Dimitri Palace on Korčula island, our inspiration comes from the  Adriatic coast’s beautiful gardens – above and below sea level. We are connected to Korčula’s indigenous seasonal produce.

LD offers a multiple course food experience inspired by our Head Chef Marko Gajski’s favourite dishes from the A La Carte and Tasting Menus. Personally served by our Head Chef and Sommeliers, guests are guided through a seven course menu paired with eight wines and local olive oils. Alternatively, guests can accompany the seven course menu with their own choice of wines from our wine list. There is also a five course tasting menu. In addition to our Terrace by the sea, LD has an intimate space for up to 10 guests to sample the latest menu ideas, paired with recommended olive oils and local wines. We can also create exclusive menus for Chef’s Table guests using requested ingredients if those are available. The Chef’s Table can be booked for lunch or dinner.

Our sommeliers take guests on a journey around the vineyards of Dalmatia in our series of Wine Tasting events. With perfect wine pairings and surprising anecdotes about the history of regional wine making, this is a memorable experience for visitors to Korčula who wish to immerse themselves in local culture.

The concierge can arrange wine tasting at nearby wineries; meals at rustic agrotourism eateries; and tickets for the Moreška (a traditional sword dance, performed on summer evenings). The spa does excellent Thai and Ayurvedic massage. The hotel yacht (with skipper) is available for private sailing trips around the island, and there’s a chauffeur for road trips and a speed boat for transfers.

Discover the rich gastronomic history of Korčula island through a guided tour. Taste locally made delicacies and excellent wines. Explore fruitful vineyards, picturesque villages, thousands of years of traditions, a rich heritage, and you will be immersed in the heart of the Mediterranean every step of the way. Feel the pulse of life in small narrow streets of the island’s villages and taste fine wines and olive oils driving through some of the nicest landscapes of the South Adriatic.
