This is your opportunity to experience the underwater world of Jean-Michel Cousteau close up. The Jean-Michel Cousteau Dive Centre is a full-service facility offering a wide range of once-in-a-lifetime experiences for certified divers and beginners. You can dive at the world-famous Namena marine reserve site and explore the waters surrounding the resort. These areas offer the largest variety of fish and coral on the planet; seemingly bottomless drop-offs, multi-colored soft corals, and perfect coral gardens supporting an abundance of spectacular marine life. Namena Marine Reserve

Considered to be one of the top ten dive sites in the entire world, the Namena Marine Reserve is just a short 40-minute boat ride from the resort. Unparalleled biodiversity. The Namena Marine Reserve is home to thousands of species of fish, invertebrates and hundreds of species of corals and marine plants. Namena is a migratory pathway for cetaceans; you may encounter species such as bottlenose and spinner dolphins, or pilot, minke, sperm, and humpback whales. These spacious Gardenview Bures are surrounded by luxuriant tropical foliage with exotic flowers, affording privacy. Each Gardenview Bure has a luxurious king bed and a day-bed, making these bures ideal for either a couple, or a family with up to two children. A rollaway bed can be provided for a second child.

The organic garden is the source of much of the Fijian and Asian cuisine. Dishes include Asian-style chilli mud crab, Fiji pork, and vegetable tartan; once a week, there’s a Fijian lovo feast, with dishes slow-cooked in banana leaves on a fire pit, while the Band Boys play traditional tunes. The dining room has separate family and adults’ area, and guests can reserve the pier for private dinners. Cocktails are great; prop up at the elegant Lounge Bar or have a drink poolside or on the pier. Breakfast is delicious; buffet aside, try the fruit and walnut bread with papaya and cinnamon mascarpone, and sweetcorn fritters with tomato, bacon, pesto and rocket, from the à la carte menu.

Restaurant

Dining on the shore of Savusavu Bay is a truly unique experience. The combination of exotic culinary offerings, the extensive, eclectic wine list, and the spectacular views over the water and the mountains beyond make it second to none. We find that couples and families feel most at ease in different parts of the dining room. To accommodate these preferences we have created separate areas but, at the same time, everyone shares the same stunning views of Savusavu Bay in the daytime and the magically illuminated pool and the long pier stretching into the bay at night.

Chef Raymond Lee keeps the pans flipping at the open-air restaurant, which stars international and Fijian cuisine that’s strong on locally caught fish and seafood, and organic produce from the hotel’s garden. Typical dishes on the daily changing menu include New Zealand lamb or chargrilled wahoo with sweet corn and prawn salad. Set under a soaring temple roof, the dining area serves up appetising sea views, too, or you can dine out poolside or in a separate adults-only sanctuary. Musicians may serenade you come evening, and there’s a weekly Lovo Feast, where traditional Fijian food is cooked in an earth oven. Don’t miss the tasty afternoon tea. You can also request a beach or island picnic, or a private barbecue by the pool.

For a special occasion during your stay, dining under the stars overlooking the waters of Savusavu Bay in the company of a loved one, or the whole family is unforgettable.

In the evening the Lounge Bar becomes the place to gather. It’s a time to share your day’s experiences with friends, family or perhaps some new friends. A seemingly never-ending selection of cocktail creations are expertly prepared by our friendly staff.Mojitos and margaritas are the order of the day in the poolside bar, which overlooks the ocean and blue-tinged hills beyond. During cocktail hour, expect to be serenaded with tunes from the local ‘Beach Boys’ band.

Other activities include sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking. The resort is also big on cultural tours; market trips, visiting Nukubalavu Village where many staff live, and Fijian medicine walks. The adults-only oceanfront Serenity Pool by the bar is a sleek, infinity-edge number flanked by orange day-beds and a shady pergola for a sociable scene. It only welcomes teens age 13 or over, but younger kids can choose between three dedicated pools, including the Family Pool with a 20-foot waterslide alongside the Bula Club, the Junior Pool or the cascading Water Mushroom Pool for toddlers.
