The ideal place to relax and unwind, it is a haven of romance and tranquility, making it the perfect escape for couples as well as families. Housed in the restored outbuildings of the castle on the edge of the forest, the “Relais & Château de La Bretesche” offers 31 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites, along with five villas located on one France’s most beautiful golf courses. Each room is individually decorated in a boudoir, rustic or contemporary style with views of either the lake or the courtyard and its 100-year-old lime tree. The hotel’s restaurant, Le Montaigu, has the young and talented Chef Frédéric Murati at the helm, who invites guests to taste Brittany’s highest-quality local products. The contemporary Le Club offers relaxed all-day dining options, while the Bar des Ecuries offers a wide range of whiskeys and liquors in the estate’s former stables – the authentic wood and brass stalls create a cozy setting for a quiet nightcap.
The state-of-the-art Cinq Mondes-branded Spa de la Cour Carrée provides the ultimate pampering experience and the hotel offers two swimming pools – an indoor pool, which is open all year and an outdoor pool, heated from May to September. Moreover, set in a beautiful 100-year-old forest, Le Golf de la Bretesche stretches out around the castle, in the heart of a 200-acres estate. The 72-par, the 18-hole course recently had 700 trees planted on it, giving golfers the sense of playing in a park rather than on a regular golf course. With only a few well-placed bunkers to negotiate with, golfers of all levels can play at La Bretesche.
Thirty-one rooms are split between the historic hunting lodge and a newer period-styled building. The Château offers a variety of welcoming, tastefully decorated rooms designed with rest and relaxation in mind. Should you prefer to feel that little bit closer to nature, some of the rooms and suites also have terraces offering views of the surrounding countryside.

Double-Michelin-starred chef Rémy Giraud has been running the kitchens at the Hauts de Loire for over 30 years and has lost none of his creativity, which strongly reflects his passion for nature, over that time. His takes on the great classics really are an ode to French heritage, incorporating game, fruits and vegetables from the vegetable garden and taking even the most demanding of guests on a rich and impeccable gastronomic journey.In what has become a new exercise in style, Rémy Giraud’s Bistrot menu comprises a selection of carefully prepared typical dishes that reflect both the changing seasons and his sources of inspiration, served in a relaxed setting overlooking the vegetable garden.

Le Montaigu
The cosy, well-appointed surroundings of the restaurant make it the perfect haven of peace and tranquillity in which to sample the culinary delights on offer. Chef Rémy Giraud serves up a selection of dishes representing his own take on some of the great French classics and prepared using seasonal produce. Hare terrine à la royale, eel salad and even Sologne caviar are just some of the dishes on offer here and sure to delight even the finest of palates. A great deal of sensitivity, creativity and incredible inventiveness goes into making this a flawless gastronomic experience, the standard of which has earned it two Michelin stars and a reputation among connoisseurs.

Le Club
The Hauts de Loire offers another equally inviting dining experience where guests can enjoy authentic, flavoursome dishes for both lunch and dinner. Chef Rémy Giraud demonstrates his versatility through his deliberately selective menu adapted to the seasons and the market to create dishes rich in character, including carp sausage and smoked purée, accompanied by regional wines… an array of gourmet revelations to tantalise your taste buds.
Leisure facilities include an outdoor pool, table-tennis table, tennis courts, lake fishing (bring your own rod), boules and marked forest walking/biking trails; hotel has bicycles. There is a cookery school, helipad and the hotel can organise hot-air balloon rides. A state-of-the-art Clinique spa includes steam room, sauna, relaxation lounge and indulgent treatments such as sweet and salty body scrubs, sport massages and make-up lessons alongside the standard beauty treatments.

Our outdoor pool is open all summer season and is perfect for a few lengths, or even just to cool off when the temperatures start to rise, whilst the nearby gym is equipped with a number of top-of-the-range machines for those who like to work out and take advantage of the many benefits that exercise provides for the body. Spa
The Spa by Clarins includes a sauna, a hammam, treatment cabins for one or two people, and a relaxation lounge with Clarins products. The treatments available are all Clarins exclusives and the Spa staff have been trained by the bran.
