The Scenic Champagne Route

The scenic Champagne route winds its way through vast swathes of vineyards, passing small villages and local champagne houses along the way.
Starting in Reims your driver guide will take you out of the city and onto one of the most scenic driving routes of the region, known as the ‘Champagne route’. The landscape soon opens up across the rolling verdant hillside as you pass through the neatly lined rows of vines – look out for the headstones along the vineyards, indicating the names of the famous Champagne producers. This gentle drive takes us into some of the smaller villages and wine estates where you have the chance to meet the producers and sample their blends. The route leads you to Epernay, the wine capital of Champagne, where you can contrast your experience at the smaller wine estates with a visit to one of the largest producers of the region – Mercier. This house is rich with history and will give you an insight to the rise of the champagne industry, while a little train takes you through part of the 18 km long cellars to see them in action. Domaine Les Crayeres Reims

Located in the heart of the Champagne region on the edge of Reims, Domaine Les Crayères is a classically styled property offering luxurious accommodation, Michelin starred dining and exceptional service. The hotel sits within its own seven hectares of parkland offering a peaceful haven and charming setting away from the town centre of Reims. By day you can wander around the estate or head off to one of the many champagne houses in the region for a tasting, even head next door; the chateau was built in the early nineteen hundreds for the Pommery family so it is not a coincidence that the hotel sits next door to the Pommery Champagne House.

Rooms are generously sized and individually decorated, many featuring large fireplaces and views over the park. Bathrooms are generously sized with most offering large walk in showers and separate bathtubs. The hotel offers two main dining options; the gourmet Le Parc offers fine dining in a stunning setting overlooking the park. Based in a separate building in the hotel grounds is Le Jardin brasserie, offering a relaxed dining experience in more modern surroundings. La Rotonde bar boasts a selection of the finest vintage champagnes and hosts occasional jazz nights in the relaxed setting of the hotel grounds.

ROOMS

Genuine classical French style radiates from every detail of the decoration in each of the 20 rooms and suites in the Château and Cottage. All the rooms are generously size and well located. Luxury, elegance and intimacy: the hotel “Le Château” offers its guests the quintessence of French art de vivre in a green setting, in the heart of Reims. Guest rooms at the Domaine Les Crayères are individually styled and are either situated in the castle or the cottage, each offering its own charm. All rooms have the capacity for an extra bed for a child.

The Premium Rooms propose a traditional setting, thanks to the richness of the fabrics and the plurality of the styles and periods. The comfortable dimensions of more than 30m2 created an intimate atmosphere conductive to well-being and tranquility. The Domaine disposes of three Premium Rooms situated in each side of the castle. The Premium Room measures from 30m² to 35 m² and is located in the castle or in the cottage. The room has air conditioning, complimentary WiFi and a bathroom with bathtub.

Superior Room

Spacious and comfortable, the Superior Rooms are equipped and carefully decorated according to the British style. Cosy and sophisticated colours : each Superior Room is unique and face the Cour d’Honneur. The Domaine offers two Superior Rooms situated in the castle and a third one situated in the Cottage, close to the castle. The Superior room measures from 35m² to 40m² and is located in the castle. The room has air conditioning, complimentary WiFi and a spacious bathroom with bathtub and separate shower.

Sweet and luminous, the Deluxe Rooms enjoy a sophisticated and felted ambience. Every one of them possesses a unique atmosphere which contribute to create an harmonious place and delicately confidential. The Domaine disposes of six Deluxe Rooms of approximately 40m2 with a beautiful view on the Cour d’Honneur or on the parc of the Domaine. A seventh room in duplex is also available in the Cottage close to the castle. The Deluxe room measures from 40m² to 45m² and is located in the castle or the cottage. The layout differs per room and some are duplex in style while others have a terrace. The room has air conditioning, complimentary WiFi and a spacious bathroom with bathtub and some rooms with separate shower.

Ultimate expression of the excellence of the Domaine Les Crayères, the Prestige Rooms embody the traditional luxury and the contemporary refinement. Their spacious size (50m2), the extreme care of their accommodation composed of rare furniture and noble materials and their beautiful view on the Domaine Les Crayères make their places, privileged, intimate and magic. One Prestige Room is also available in the Cottage close to the castle. The Prestige room measures from 50m² to 55m² and is located in the castle or the cottage. The layout differs per room and some are duplex in style while others have a terrace. The room has air conditioning, complimentary WiFi and a spacious bathroom with shower cubicle, some rooms have a separate bathtub also.

DINING

The two Michelin starred restaurant Le Parc offers renowned fine dining and has a lovely terrace overlooking the park from which to enjoy a glass of champagne on warmer days. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Based in a separate building with a pretty veranda is the contemporary and elegant Le Jardin brasserie, which is open daily. Seasonal specialities can be found on the menu with many of its ingredients coming from the hotel’s own herb garden.

With its British accent, the Bar of the Domaine aims to cultivate unique moments. During daylight, the view of the window overlooking the park is an exquisite spectacle. At night, under the stars with a glass of champagne, it embraces and shares the pleasure of jazz music or various other styles of concerts honoring the most famous of sparkling wines. The wine list offers more than 600 references of champagne, from small producers to famous Houses, and more than 1000 references of wine. A snack menu is also available.

Seasonal specialities can be found on the menu with many of its ingredients coming from the hotel’s own herb garden. Whilst the Domaine Les Crayères is better suited to couples, children are welcome at the property and an extra bed can be arranged for a child.
