ACTIVITIES:
Housed in the magnificent 18th century Labottière mansion, standing opposite La Grande Maison, the Cultural Institute Bernard Magrez is a private initiative of arts patronage. The initiative is driven by the will and desire of one man to share his love for art and artists. After building an entrepreneurial career based on excellence, innovation and creativity, Bernard Magrez now wants to “give back to society” what good fortune gave him.
There are four types of tours for you to choose from the wine storehouses to the fermenting room and cellar, all followed by a guided wine-tasting session.
Explore the region’s small country lanes in a luxury car, fly over the vineyards in a helicopter or sail up the river in a Hacker Craft, unforgettable
When this vineyard was presented to Bertrand de Goth in the 13th century, the archbishop of Bordeaux, later consecrated as Pope Clement V, devoted all his talent to successfully improving the processes for wine-production. In the 19th century, it was down to Jean-Baptiste Clerc to establish the reputation of the Château’s wines. And when Bernard Magrez acquired it in the 1980s, it was his turn to embark on the road towards excellence in developing the Grands Crus.
This Grand Cru Classé Haut Médoc welcomes you in the medieval suites of one of the oldest castles in the region, a major player in the history of France, especially during the Hundred Years War. With its two beautiful guest rooms and dining-room complete with its imposing table, La Tour Carnet is a unique place you can have to yourself for an intimate, timeless holiday.
This former monastery has retained a certain sacred charm from its religious past. Steadily built up over the centuries, the origins of the Château Fombrauge vineyard date back to the 16th century. Since it was acquired by Bernard Magrez, the Château’s long corridors have echoed with melodies played with Stradivarius’ finest, in concerts and by musicians in residence. You can choose between the spring suite with its stately elegance and a period suite with the charm of a bygone era, for a taste of unprecedented luxury. Its inviting grounds and formal French garden are perfect for a contemplative stroll.
A tour of the Basin, gateway to the Ocean, in a wooden pinasse, a traditional Arcachon boat, exploring the Banc d’Arguin nature reserve and sampling a few oysters

The Grande Maison de Bernard Magrez is a private 19th century mansion, driven by two ambassadors of excellence, at the service of the arts. The art of hospitality is showcased by the six elegant guest rooms inspired by Napoleon III style. Culinary arts are embodied by the exceptional cuisine of Pierre Gagnaire. The art of Great Wines, with a wine list unique in the world, boasting 259 positions including 172 Grands Crus Classés, is perfectly aligned to the remarkable signature dishes of the Chef with new creations around local products. The journey continues with contemporary art at the Cultural Institute Bernard Magrez, across the street, with the permanent exhibition of works from the collection of the owner.
Bernard Magrez, The owner of four grands crus in Bordeaux, graciously invites all guests of La Grande Maison to discover his châteaux through his tasting courses, guided tours and his “b-winemaker” wine blending workshop. Will allow you to leave with two bottles of great wines that you will have created yourself. You will also be the privileged visitor of the Cultural Institute Bernard Magrez, the leading contemporary art center in Aquitaine, a place of cultural sharing and artist residences, next door to La Grande Maison.
Refinement and Elegance were the key words for Frédérique Fournier, the decorator of the rooms. Decorated in a revisited Napoleon III style, they are adorned in pink, green, flowery violet and striking raspberry-red. They place the emphasis on French crafts, with embroidered Braquenié silk taffeta fabrics from Pierre Frey, Houlès trimmings, Moissonnier furniture and products by Guerlain in the bathrooms.
