The quiet location in the middle of Provence, is perfect to visit Châteauneuf du Pape, the famous wine route of Provence, l’Isle sur Sorgues, the Lubéron. Le Prieuré in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, tucked away in the mediaeval village, with its cottage garden and its trailing wisteria, emanates a rare charm. Jean-André and Geneviève Charial, who also own two properties in Les Baux-de-Provence, say that this former convent epitomises silence and relaxation.

The admirable renovations and redecorating carried out on this 14th Century building by Jean-André and Geneviève Charial in 2007, have afforded it simple aesthetics and luminosity, bestowing a harmonious unity to the past, visible in the original stonework, and the present, represented by the modern furnishings. Le Prieuré breathes an air of rare and simple charm. In Provence, it is a haven of peace, a country hotel… in town. It is delightful to stroll through the garden with its trellises covered in century-old wisteria, or to relax beside the pool. ROOMS

Geneviève Charial has taken great care with the interior design of the twenty-six rooms, nine Junior suites and four suites of Le Prieuré. Her talent lies in marrying the past with the present, combining contemporary furnishings with the original stone walls. She often finds inspiration in a small detail: the contrast of white and black tiles, a collection of old pottery crocks found in the convent cellar. All the rooms are equipped with every modern comfort: flat-screen TV, broadband Internet, air conditioning, minibar… and all the suites have their own lounge and private terrace. From 23 to 28 m². For 1 to 2 adults. Double or twin beds(180cm). Located in the historic part of the property and decorated in a blend of Provencal and contemporary styles. They can be prepared as twin room or double room ( 1 bed 1.80m ).

Inspired by a picture of Peter Lindbergh or a painting, their decoration made by Geneviève Charial, is very personalized and focussed on details.

DINING

In the gastronomic restaurant of Le Prieuré, regale yourselves with the refined Southern flavours of the cuisine of our new Chef Marc Fontanne, still rewarded with a Michelin star. The dining room, draped in Italian Dedar curtains and ornamented by a large period fireplace, has large bay windows looking out on the garden.
