Cruising And Fishing

Cruise or fish in the Flores Sea aboard one of Amanwana’s fleet of vessels. Explore the nearby waters by day, or enjoy a cruise under the stars. Sunset cruises take place on a traditional outrigger.



Snorkelling And Kayaking

‘Turtle Street’ and surrounding reefs are easily reached by kayak or snorkelling. Embark on a guided night snorkelling excursion. Single- and double-seat ocean kayaks are available.



Scuba Diving

Amanwana’s dive operation is ideal for beginners (age 10 upwards) and experts alike. Courses range from two-hour non-certification beginner sessions to PADI certifications including Junior Open Water, Scuba Diver and PADI Advanced. Specialised dives, night dives, peak performance buoyancy dives and refresher dives available. Numerous dive sites around Amanwana ranging from shallow to deep, and excellent open-water diving. Spot turtles, mantas, trevally, reef sharks,batfish, tuna, moray eels, stonefish and lionfish, along with nudibranchs and corals of every imaginable hue, and occasional whale fish and eagle rays.



Waterfall Excursion

Half-day tour combining travel by speedboat and a 4×4 safari ride through the jungle. Stroll through the local fishing and farming village and visit the school. A short trek brings guests to a magnificent series of waterfalls cascading into limestone pools ideal for swimming.



Nature Treks And Biking

Amanwana Ridge: stroll along dappled paths with beautiful sea views past teak, tamarind, fig and banyan trees Amanwana Bay beach and Crocodile Head: deer,monkeys and sea eagles are often spotted on the kilometre walk around the bay, as well as schools of reef sharks as the tide comes in. Extend the trek to Crocodile Head, for beautiful views of the Flores Sea. Coastal cliff mountain bike trail: spot monkeys,birds and wild boar, and take a refreshing swim along the rugged coastline. Bat cave: a physically demanding guided trek with the opportunity to spot seven species of bat, monitor lizards, python and the occasional scorpion.

Mother Nature is allowed full reign across the 36,000 hectares of nature reserve that make up private Moyo Island, in the coral-rich Flores Sea. Here in this wildlife lover’s paradise, Amanwana has set up camp, with 20 safari tents amid the rainforest or on the shore.

Low-impact and eco-friendly, the tents are equipped with hardwood floors and soaring, air-conditioned canopies sheltering sumptuous daybeds, ensuite bathrooms and net-draped kingsize beds. Visits from friendly macaques and inquisitive deer are not uncommon, and hint at the abundance of nature to be found further inland, or out to sea.
