Without question one of the most dramatic and stunning mountain ranges on the planet, the Dolomites and their jagged spires have poetically been referred to as “God’s backyard.” With their awe-inspiring beauty, the Dolomites have also been the primary inspiration for some of the most legendary and historic stages of the Giro d’Italia! Such famed climbs as Passo di Pordoi, the Marmolada, the Passo Gardena, and the Passo di Campolongo just to name a few, have tested the strength and stamina of the world’s fittest cyclists for decades.
he possibilities offered by this immense natural gymnasium are innumerable and should be made the most of, the only condition being that this incredible gift of nature is respected completely. From alpinism to sports climbing, routes of all types and grades exist, weaving their way up an infinite number of splendid rock faces, seemingly created for what here in the Dolomites has historically been one of the major sports. And then there are of course the ‘Vie Ferrate’ and equipped paths, “invented” here, enabling easy access to the summits of the greatest and highest Dolomite peaks.
The golf lovers can enjoy a quiet game of golf on the new 9 hole golf course- PAR 72. The course is only a few kilometres from the centre of Corvara, in “Località Tranrüs” at an altitude of 1,700 metres above sea level. From June to October, an excellent possibility to play is guaranteed in an uncontaminated nature, at an ideal temperature. Although it’s a typical mountain golf course, Alta Badia Golf is not tiring due to the height difference of 45 metres. The layout of the holes, following the gentle reliefs, makes for an entertaining and creative game. The club house, a typical wooden house, comprises the office, changing rooms and showers, and a small room. On the course there is a putting green, practice green and two professional assistants.

The two Michelin-starred St. Hubertus Restaurant is undoubtedly the culinary highlight. Run by celebrated local chef Norbert Niederkofler since 1994, it delivers haute cuisine at its most innovative and indulgent. Lavish breakfasts are served in Restaurant Limonaia, overlooking the Dolomites. The Wine Bar & Grill offers informal dining – it’s known for its grilled meat and seafood, but the pasta and pizzas cooked in a wood-fire oven are also good. Finally, the tiny Fondue Stube serves cheese, meat and chocolate fondues in a traditional Alpine setting.
Chef Norbert Niederkofler
Norbert Niederkofler’s culinary roots can be traced back to his father in the Valle Aurina, a small valley in the province of Bolzano, where he developed a love of home cooking using local quality products. Norbert was first taught in Germany, then he moved to Switzerland, to the USA, to Austria and then back to Germany where he was trained by legendary chefs Jörg Müller, Eckart Witzigmann and back in Italy by Nadia Santini. In 1994 Norbert joined eventually the Rosa Alpina, where he started to renew completely the F&B opening in 1996 the St. Hubertus.
