Situated in the enchanting Umbrian valley, the Estate offers a wide selection of possibilities for its guests: seven luxury villas, a charming apartment, three deluxe rooms and two romantic cottages, all elegantly furnished and offering superior levels of comfort. The Murlo Estate aims to create and share a unique and welcoming place where nature meets luxury and where service is dedicated to your utmost comfort. Only 20 minutes north of Perugia, the Murlo Estate is perfectly situated to explore wonderful Umbrian and Tuscan hill towns.
Il Caldaro is a stunning medieval farm house rebuilt over the ruins of a defensive tower dating back to the XIV Century and now transformed into a stylish restaurant. It offers traditional Umbrian dishes but revisits them in a modern style, always with great care in maintaining and highlighting the genuine flavors of our ingredients. Our philosophy is reflected in the quality of the raw ingredients we use. This, combined with the wisdom and skill of our chefs, the professionalism and attention to detail of our waiting staff, guarantees an unforgettable experience. Our wine cellar has a strong focus on local labels, with particular emphasis given to boutique, quality producers, as well as obviously paying homage to the great wines of Italy.
Boutique Hotel:
A thousand-year-old castle meticulously restored and stylishly reimagined into a dazzling hotel. The Castello, dating back to 1050, is a historical gem brimming with interest and intrigue. Now, after years of careful restoration, it has been transformed into a singularly unique hotel filled with wit, whimsy and effortless style. The rooms and suites contained within these ancient castle walls are imbued with personality and panache, thanks to our organic approach to contemporary design coupled with a discerning nod to the intriguing characters who once called this home. All is subtle and sensual in our bedrooms: a locally-crafted vanity in smooth wood and brass here; a hand-stitched linen curtain there; ancient beams you’ll want to touch and beautiful fabrics you’ll want to stroke. Terracotta-brick or wooden floors, bespoke furniture and bathrooms of marble – all flooded with natural light, with views both out over the rolling countryside and into the oval castle courtyard.
Villa Retreat:
Scattered around the wild expanse of Reschio are 10 spectacular ancient farmhouses, restored to luxurious, free-standing villas between 3 to 7 bedrooms, each with a private garden, pool and terraced lavender, are available for holidaymakers to rent. All are former farmhouses, once in ruins but now carefully and meticulously restored by the Bolza family. Keeping to the original footprint of the farmhouses, each house is truly unique and thoroughly liveable. What they all have in common, though, is the location, sitting amongst our charming hills with undisturbed views of the pristine estate.

Noci Villa - 3 Bedroom
Noci sits proudly on its namesake hilltop, Col delle Noci, with wide, sweeping views across the valley to the Castello and the bordering Umbrian hills. This 17th century farmhouse has been thoughtfully restored, with pale terracotta floors, wooden doors and exposed timber beams – all typically Umbrian – keeping things traditional, and bright white walls, colourful fabrics and Italian furniture giving everything a contemporary shake-up. Outside, the olive, cypress and fig trees line up the sloping garden, inviting you to take a soothing morning stroll around the sun-dappled grounds.

Piantaverna Villa - 4 Bedroom
Light-flooded interiors and bespoke furniture, carefully selected by the Reschio design team, mix cleverly with period pieces, creating a stylish, organic feel. Unlike other properties, Piantaverna’s infinity pool sits on a terrace above the house, surrounded by fragrant lavender gardens and with dreamy views of Reschio’s rolling hills. You’ll happily lose a day here, relaxing in the balmy shade of old oak trees.

Spinaltermine Villa - 5 Bedroom
This is one for those seeking a slice of nature in its purest form. Wild oaks, olive trees and scented rosemary beds surround the summer house and infinity pool outside, while inside, the cool monochrome furnishings coupled with rustic, Italian touches create a modern, chic retreat.

Palazzo Villa - 5 Bedroom
Inside, the spacious rooms have high, vaulted ceilings, floors laid with reclaimed terracotta tiles and beautifully hand-painted wallpapers, blending seamlessly with stylish modern furnishings, all centred on a spectacular cantilevered staircase. Outside, there’s a breezy loggia with three huge arches that perfectly frame the large, heated infinity pool and the uninterrupted views of the valleys beyond. Palazzo has plenty to keep guests busy, including a wine cellar, tennis court, gym and games room.

Casa delle Suore Villa - 6 Bedroom
There’s nothing austere about it now, though – light-filled rooms, modern art and sleek furniture, made exclusively by B.B for Reschio, create beautiful, contemporary interiors. The double-height kitchen hides a unique dome-shaped wine cellar below, while the dining room opens up completely, linking the courtyard to the pool, forming easy, inside-out living areas. The terrace is an idyllic lounging spot, overlooking the cascading steps to the infinity pool, with quince trees and the wild, almost jungle-like greenery all around.

Grugliano Villa - 6 Bedroom
Grugliano is all about traditional Italian elegance – you’ll notice subtle design touches throughout, from the small market trinkets above the chimney mantel, to the tiled kitchen worktop, to the spiral cast iron staircase that connects the high-ceilinged living room to the master bedroom. You’ll notice lots of places to lounge around, too, with various shady outdoor areas made for relaxing with a glass of something chilled while admiring the unequivocally Umbrian landscape.

Arrighi Villa - 6 Bedroom
High on the hills of Reschio is the impressive Arrighi, a former watchtower and farmhouse that dates back to the 11th century. Stroll across the wide, paved courtyard, past the stone fountain and into this warm and welcoming house, with its light, modern interiors, cool sandstone floors and soaring ceilings. Outside, the glass-encased staircase tower is an architectural show-stopper, but what’s most striking about Arrighi is its surroundings – it’s hard to drag yourself away from those sweeping views over the estate, the Niccone valley and over to Tuscany.

Barco Villa - 6 Bedroom
There’s a pleasingly synergic symmetry to Barco that stems from its landscaped courtyard, the focal point of the house. Inside, curving arches and an open-plan feel give a breezy sense of space, while the central dining room brings the outdoors in, opening right out onto the terraces leading to the swimming pool, garden and spa-bath. It’s here, on the shady terrace, that you’ll want to spend your day, nose in a book or dining outdoors, gazing at uninterrupted views of the castle and of nearby Castello di Sorbello. The location is spot-on, too, close to Ristorante Alle Scuderie, the stables and tennis courts.

Bell'Aria Villa - 6 Bedroom
Bell’Aria is a perfect example of how the Reschio team works closely with house owners to create an utterly unique and bespoke home that is both aesthetically beautiful and liveable. This is Italian elegance with a touch of English country house charm – where modern style meets traditional materials, where refined luxury meets kick-off-your-shoes comfort. Take your pick from numerous outdoor lounging areas – on the terraces, by the pool, on the lawns – and take in the views over Reschio’s private nature reserve and, on crisp clear days, all the way to the Apennines.

Brusceto Villa - 7 Bedroom
This charming 17th century former farmhouse, surrounded by ancient mulberry and oak trees, sits peacefully on a hillside overlooking rolling pastures and fields. Brusceto’s traditional feel, with its stone and terracotta floors and tiled kitchen, evokes its agricultural past, while bright-white walls and modern furniture bring the house bang up to date. Stroll through the fragrant gardens, surrounded by lavender and rosemary, enjoy open-air dining with spellbinding views from the outdoor dining area, or float in the infinity pool and gaze over the valley.
From sourcing wild delicacies from our grounds, to harvesting the finest ingredients from our organic garden and local area, our restaurants offer simple but sensational seasonal fare.
It isn’t only the architecture at Castello di Reschio that’s inspired by its landscape. The wildflower meadows, woods, gardens and vineyards all help to create the healthy, homemade dishes. Think everything from fresh eggs and pasta to olive oil and honey. You can get involved, too, with the hotel offering pizza-making, foraging, truffle-hunting and visits to local cheesemongers.
Just-picked vegetables from our kitchen garden, olive oil from our trees, truffles from our forests and fish so fresh it might as well have just somersaulted onto your plate: at Reschio, we take our food seriously. Sourcing only the finest local ingredients, as well as carefully foraging little-known delicacies from our estate, our chefs magic up simple but delectable menus served up in cinematic locations.

Ristorante Alle Scuderie
Step into the cool shade of Alle Scuderie and take a seat amongst the lofty fern-trees, head out onto the broad terrace or perch at the long, marble Bar Centrale. With its soaring ceilings, hand-crafted furniture and wide-reaching views, it exudes an air of old-world Italian glamour. Our organic kitchen garden does most of the hard work here, which combined with the freshest local produce, creates simple menus with elegant touches, and pizzas straight from our outdoor oven. Bar Centrale is just the place to pause for a pre-dinner cocktail or post-dinner drink.

Ristorante al Castello
Built into the western ramparts of our ancient castle, Al Castello has breathtaking views out over the countryside, with front-row seats come sunset. Inside is a stylish, pared-back restaurant, with huge doors that open up on the terrace, bringing the outside in. Fig trees dot the expansive terrace, perfect for outdoor meals under the stars. All is local, versatile, seasonal and sustainable, with breakfast and dinner available to our hotel and house guests, and their visitors.

Bar Centrale
The centrepiece of the restaurant, however, is undoubtedly the ‘Bar Centrale’. Almost an artwork in its own right, the bar represents the perfect union of Benedikt’s design vision combined with the master craftsmanship of Reschio’s own woodworkers, blacksmiths, and stonemasons. Exuding an air of old-world Italian glamour, the bar has become the natural meeting place for those on the Estate at different times of the day. Whether calling in for a macchiato in the late morning or enjoying a Negroni in the evening, the bar is the perfect backdrop to any stay at Reschio.

Il Torrino
It’s amazing what you can do with a watchtower. What once played an important role in the protection of our ancient castle is today Reschio’s chic pool bar, the perfect spot to try one of our freshly-made juices or cocktails. A breezy bar area, outside deck and little niches for guests to cozy up in provide relaxed dining, with made-on-the-spot panini, just-picked salads and fruit from the estate.

Palm Court
Soaring to the skies on one side of the castle courtyard is our beautiful Palm Court, with lofty iron columns and a glass ceiling creating an epic, turn-of-the-century-style space. Wander in for a sharpener on arrival and take in the ancient stones of the castle, peruse our retro-cool afternoon tea trolley – or just kick back with an icy glass of something delicious and a book from the library.
A place to take in an invigorating negroni, while also absorbing the majesty of the castle’s walls from within. The grand piano is tuned and ready for those that play jazz or classical arias, while portraits of the Conte di Reschio and the Contessa have pride of place to observe the activities of their guests in the heart of the castle.

Palm Court Bar
A cool respite from the summer heat or a blazing fire in the winter chill; the Palm Court Bar is a place to relax while luggage is whisked to your Castello suite. It is the hub of the hotel, somewhere to linger over an espresso and plan daily excursions or to sip a cocktail and gossip.

The Courtyard
Within the walls of the castle are two interlinked courtyards – one now encased in glass and starting a new life as the Palm Court. The other is a wonderful grassy lawn circled by impressive mature umbrella pines and cypresses. It is blessed with perfect acoustics and the home to concerts, recitals and pop-up events.

Enoteca
Our estates wines, which include outstanding light reds and rosés, are utterly delicious, and our sommelier has sourced a number of little-known Italian, organic and biodynamic wines. Together, they provide a unique experience. Come for a browse, or even better, a bespoke wine tasting

Cooking School
Make the most of our fabulous Umbrian chefs and learn how to transform our rich, local produce into delicious dishes. Located just next door to Ristorante Alle Scuderie, create hand-made pasta with a variety of sauces, learn how to creatively forage for wild ingredients, or try your hand at a traditional four-course Italian meal. We may even let you nibble your way through each lesson.
The hotel has an infinity pool and the ancient wine cellars have been transformed into our otherworldly Bathhouse, a steamy, dreamy retreat. Worn stone steps lead down to a tranquil sanctuary of therapeutic interconnecting spaces, offering holistic, nurturing treatments to soothe both body.
We are fully organic, of course, but we’re going a step further, working towards making everything – the sunflower, hemp and wheat fields, the vegetable gardens and the poultry – fully biodynamic and synergic. Stroll through our organic garden and you’ll emerge enlightened and fragrant with the lingering scent of mint, lavender and rosemary. Reschio’s flower-filled meadows and forests filled with flourishing wild herbs and plants have always been free of artificial fertilizers or pesticides. This means we are lucky enough to have thriving colonies of happy, healthy honeybees which produce our rich millefiori honey. Seek out our beekeeper, a regular on the estate, who will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about bees.
Our 1,500-hectare estate produces outstanding light reds and rosés, and some Reschio houses have their own private vineyards, where our head winemaker oversees the careful wine production for owners. Harvest time, from late September, sees everyone romping through the vineyards together to bring in the fruit for pressing. Our century-old olive trees produce organic, cold-pressed oil which tastes simply sublime.
We call it “careful foraging” – searching for botanical marvels in our landscape Join Nencia as she explores the meadows, hedgerows and forests for natural remedies such as St John’s Wort, an unassuming yellow flower that holds a host of miracles. And we’ve not even mentioned the wild herbs, edible plants and mushrooms used by our chefs in the restaurants.
The landscapes of Umbria and Tuscany inspired the canvases of the Renaissance painters, and exploring the hazy hills, medieval hill-top towns, museums and art galleries is a rare treat. Within an hour’s drive of Reschio are the spellbinding towns of Assisi, Arezzo, Cortona, Gubbio, Perugia and Siena. The long summer season, meanwhile, is alive with open-air concerts and opera, as well as little seasonal festas held in villages and towns. Then there’s the food to discover and the Sangiovese wines to try.

Hotel Outdoor Pool
Outside, by the old Torrino, you’ll find our outdoor pool. Che bello – you may never swim with views more beautiful than these … however distracting this might be from getting in a good few lengths. You can certainly take in the scenery at your leisure, basking in the sun by the poolside, and sipping your favourite drink (our attendants will see to your every need)
Our outdoor pool is a thing of natural beauty. Settled in the landscape surrounded by mature trees and fragrant gardens, inviting a casual dip. It feels like wild swimming, as you skim over the ripples to the undulating views beyond with paintbrush cypresses, glimmering olive groves and ancient vineyards. The old Torrino has had a renaissance and its attentive staff cater for your every whim.
Sunk like a glimmering optical illusion into the verdant lawns is our incredible outdoor pool. Located just outside the castle walls – and mirroring the historic, time-worn ramparts – the water gently overflows the stone rim of the pool to the grass at its edge, while tall umbrella pines provide balmy shade. Showers and changing rooms are available beneath the deck of the adjacent Il Torrino, and another pool-side deck offers a perfect front-row seat to the water. Leafy niches between the trees and around the gardens, meanwhile, offer more secluded spaces for families or couples.

The Bathhouse
Deeply inspired by the Roman baths of old, we have partnered with a medical specialist to create a unique combination of personalised treatments carried out in the extraordinary surrounds of our ancient cellars. Every treatment – from massages and facials to traditional bathing rituals – is utterly bespoke, focusing on your specific physical needs. The result: emerge feeling relaxed, re-energised and with a new spring to your step.
The star of the show is the large, ethereal salt-water pool, lit by high-up windows allowing atmospheric shafts of sunlight to slant into the space. Sink into the water and float across through a vaulted stone arch, to wallow in the connected circular base of the three-storey tower. Sit on the marble benches in the warm water and gaze up at the walls, flooded with natural light from up high and from a window beneath the water level – or release the tropical rain shower, which cascades dramatically from the ceiling.
Located in one of the ancient, vaulted stone cellars, this spacious steam room is big enough for up to six people. Octagonal in shape, natural light pours in atmospherically from a central lightwell. Next to The Hammam in another of our beautiful, vaulted cellars, is our traditional sauna. Crafted from Mediterranean oak, the fragrant Swedish style sauna has space for six people. Relax in this warm and comforting space beneath lofty stone ceilings, and enjoy one of our bespoke treatments, carried out by the caring hands of our expert therapists. Massages and many treatments can also be arranged in the privacy of your own room.

Private Spa
Step into our original red wine cellar and be transported into a private, cosseting space to enjoy with family or groups of friends of up to six people. Set beneath soaring ceilings, this large room includes a crackling fireplace, two “conversation” baths, two massage beds, a soft and welcoming daybed and a well-equipped tea kitchen and juice bar. Off to one side is a private changing room and a steam shower, while down a couple of worn, stone steps in an ancient cave carved out of the solid rock, transformed into a tepidarium – a warm space inspired by the ancient Romans, and the perfect place to relax, stretch and limber up before a tailor-made treatment.

Stables & Equestrian Center
Our outstanding stables, launched by our founder, Count Antonio Bolza, in 1999, is home to some of Italy’s finest, most highly skilled dressage horses. Lessons, wild hacks across the estate and early evening performances will introduce you to these magnificent creatures.

Lake Cabin
Our secluded, glassy-calm lake is surrounded by nothing but untamed nature, and you really must experience it by exclusively hiring out the lake cabin for the day. It’s magical: just you, the birds wheeling in the sky above, and that rippling water. Take a dip, glide about on the paddleboards, lounge on the wooden deck, tuck into a freshly-made picnic, start a water-fight… whatever, really. It’s up to you.

Tabaccaia di Reschio
Stroll on over to our restored Tabaccaia di Reschio, an industrial-chic space that hosts our roster of art exhibitions, such as works by Nic Fiddian Green and Lindy Guinness. We also host seasonal events and concerts in the courtyard of the Castello, which happens to have astonishingly good acoustics. Throughout the year we have many seasonal events varying from art exhibitions, musical gatherings, sporting activities to autumnal harvests.

Tennis
Take a spin on our Astroturf courts, available for hire to guests, either for a knock-about with friends or for lessons with an experienced tennis coach. The tennis pavilion is stocked with refreshments, perfect for relaxing between games or for enthusiastic supporters to spend time in during a heated match.

Kids Club
From riding and tennis lessons, to wild hiking and biking, Reshio is the place for kids to go free-range. Our estate team can arrange all sorts of ways of entertaining the kids on the estate, while our child-friendly excursions can bring the region to life for young, inquisitive minds.

Bottega
Brace yourself: you’ll want to buy everything here. Hand-picked by Count Benedikt and Donna Nencia, our shop holds gorgeous finds such as Venetian silk slippers, exquisite linen shawls and hand-woven Florentine sunhats. Alongside these special discoveries are our own delicious estate products, including golden honey and the most delicious olive oil, as well as seasonal, just-picked biodynamic vegetables, herbs and free-range eggs.
