Mandarin Oriental Marrakech Spa
Mandarin Oriental Marrakech The Hammam
Mandarin oriental marrakech spa pool

The 1,800sq m (19,375sq ft) Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech was designed by French duo Gilles & Boissier, who took their inspiration from the architecture of cathedrals and historical mosques in Andalusia. A sun-drenched entrance opens onto a pool and fountain, and Marrakech’s ubiquitous red bricks cover the walls and columns. The architecture and layout are designed around the five elements, and play with the five senses. An arched corridor leads to a 70sq m (753sq ft) heated indoor pool, whose bay windows overlook the gardens. The room is embellished with a white carved stucco ceiling marked by modern, graphic lines, and features a large brick fireplace.

The spa also offers retreats dedicated to wellbeing, including “The Berber Experience,” which offers a discovery of the people, life and culture of the Berber mountain villages. Guests can discover Berber crafts, such as the drying of traditional Moroccan rugs, and enjoy Berber cuisine, as well as use of the spa facilities, a hammam, massage, facial and a guided bike ride in the Atlas Mountains. The spa includes six treatment rooms, two hammams dedicated to the traditional black soap scrub, a hairdresser, manicure and pedicure studios, yoga studio and fitness centre. Product houses include Biologique Recherche, Aromatherapy Associates, and local organic brand Nectarome.

Hammam is used by Moroccans at least once a week for a ritual-based body treatment involving steaming, scrubbing, hair washing and the massageing of skin until it glows. Our hammam is a modern homage to the sensual, centuries-old practice of purification. A study in heat and renewal, it combines body detoxification and steam treatments, all conducted within an atmosphere of deep, grounding warmth. After the body is exfoliated, the skin feels wonderfully soft, while the mind and spirit enjoys an enhanced sense of deep relaxation and rejuvenation, with stress and anxiety just slipping away.
