Belmond Governor's Residence Yangon Pool Overview

An elegant 1920s teak mansion in the heart of Yangon’s Embassy Quarter, Belmond Governor’s Residence is perfectly positioned to explore all the cultural treasures that Yangon has to offer including the Shwedagon pagoda and lively Bogyoke Market. Belmond Governor’s Residence is one of the most luxurious addresses in Yangon (formerly Rangoon). Built in 1920, The Governor’s Residence is housed in a two-storey mansion that was built for one of the Governor’s from Burma’s southern states. With verandas overlooking the lush lotus gardens and pools, this is a peaceful home in the middle of Yangon. With only 49 rooms and suites, all housed in the original building, Belmond Governor’s Residence offers an intimate experience.

All of the rooms are beautifully appointed with teak furniture and silks and have views either onto the inner courtyard or the lotus gardens. One of the main features of the property is the beautiful fan-shaped swimming pool, surrounded by the tropical gardens and this is perfect to come back to after a busy day’s sightseeing. The Mandalay Restaurant offers local and Western cuisine and there are also two picturesque bars for evening cocktails. The aptly-named Governor’s Oasis is home to this boutique hotel’s peaceful spa, and offers a range of relaxing treatments.

Belmond Governor’s Residence is home to 45 rooms and 4 suites, ranging from 39 square metres to 48 square metres large, all decorated with teak furniture and tropical cottons and silks. We recommend the Deluxe Garden view rooms looking onto the lotus garden and pool or the newly renovated Governor’s Rooms which are larger and beautifully appointed with colonial, antique furnishings. The two Junior Suites are larger still and the Two-Bedroom Suites are ideal for families as there are no connecting options at the hotel. All rooms have king-size or twin beds with a large terrazzo bath, writing area with desk, lounge chair and silk fabrics contrasted with dark teak wood furnishings. The exotic fruit platters in the rooms are a nice touch, as are the provided bathrobes and slippers in traditional Myanmar fabrics.
