Kauri Cliffs was designed and built by David Harman of Golf Course Consultants, Orlando, Florida. The par 72 championship golf course measures 7,119 yards / 6,510 metres and offers five sets of tees to challenge every skill level. Fifteen holes view the Pacific Ocean, six of which are played alongside cliffs which plunge to the sea.
We invite you to relax, rejuvenate and revive your spirit in a tranquil space where nature prevails.Our Spa is nestled at the edge of a Totara forest, overlooking a verdant fern glen and winding stream. Each treatment room, including our couple’s room, has floor to ceiling views and opens onto a private outdoor patio with forest surroundings and native birdsong.
Be treated to a special tour of our working farm with the farm manager as your guide. He will take you around our stunning 6000 acres of farmland and share his extensive knowledge on the different farm animals that are farmed here.
Combine one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with fresh grilled seafood or lamb, as well as local produce partnered and fine New Zealand cheese and wines. Set on 6,000 acres near Matauri Bay, Northland, The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs offers spectacular 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, and overlooks a championship golf course. The beautiful panoramic view encompasses Cape Brett, and the Cavalli Islands. This splendid plantation lodge has a spacious living room, two private day rooms and a beautiful dining room with outdoor decks overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The magnificent spa facility is located in a native Totara forest, while the cottages are nestled on the edge of the forest and have been designed to offer the same stunning vista as the veranda of the main lodge.
Kauri Cliffs has 11 private cottages, each with two separate guest suites plus the 2-3 bedroom Owner’s Cottage with private pool, hot tub and cooking facilities for a chef (if required) – perfect for a family. Every Standard and larger Deluxe Suite is comfortably furnished in a simple and elegant style and each has its own private porch, bedroom with sitting area and open fireplace and all are located in the forest overlooking the golf course and Pacific Ocean. All suites have DVD/CD facilities. All suites feature: open gas fireplace, mini bar, super king bed, rattan armchairs, writing desk and ottomans.

Deluxe Room
The beautifully-designed, open plan Deluxe Suites are the ultimate in relaxation and comfort. Larger in size and elevated for magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, the Deluxe Suites include a luxurious seating area beside an open fireplace, armoire with flat screen TV and sound system, and large private balcony overlooking the golf course and offshore Cavalli Islands.Set a short distance away from the lodge and close to the spa, tennis courts and swimming pools, the Deluxe Suites can accommodate an additional single bed.750 sq.ft. or 69.7 sq.m.

Deluxe Family Suite
The family suites offer the same Deluxe Suite layout for the Master Bedroom with a second adjoining bedroom that is perfect for children or a nanny. With a spacious master bedroom, beautifully-appointed sitting area with fireplace that opens out to a large private balcony, the Deluxe Family Suite offers both space and privacy for travelling families.

Expertly-designed for complete comfort and relaxation, the Owner’s Cottage is your personal escape, offering space, privacy and stunning views of the vast Pacific Ocean.The exquisitely-appointed main lounge is sumptuous and welcoming, and opens eastward to an infinity pool, jacuzzi and sun-drenched patio, and westward to a luscious, sheltered tropical courtyard.
Kauri Cliffs’ Northland location provides a bounty of the freshest ingredients for delectable cuisine.Fun to eat, well balanced and above all, easy to understand, Frith draws inspiration from a wide base of international cuisines as he prepares the daily menus at Kauri Cliffs.With an emphasis on local produce and providers, Frith and his brigade of chefs maintain relatively low food miles with fish often caught and cooked on the same day.

The Cuisine
The focus is on finding the best available product and creating dishes for guests using punchy flavour combinations, yet put together in a simple way so as to highlight the ingredients own natural beauty with the greatest of visual impact.”Guests can choose from a variety of dining spaces, including the Main Dining Room, Tiger Room, Green Room and Verandas, with private dining arranged upon request.
Guests can enjoy Kauri Cliff’s beautiful property and also experience a variety of nearby activities including world famous game fishing, scuba diving, quad biking, scenic helicopter tours, snorkelling, sailing, sea kayaking, and hunting for boar. Guided tours feature visits to the Ninety Mile Beach, Tane Mahuta, Doubtless Bay, the Puketi Kauri Forest, Rainbow Falls, historic Russell and the Waitangi Treaty House. The main lodge has views over the golf course and meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or on one of the verandas. There is also a card room and comfy living room. The luxury spa is nestled at the edge of a forest and guests can enjoy treatments al fresco or by the fireside as well as the indoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and gym. There is a PGA championship Golf Course, outdoor pool, two astroturf tennis courts and three private and secluded beaches, great for swimming, picnics and beach barbecues.

Pool
The spa has four treatment rooms, locker rooms with showers, a sauna, Jacuzzi spa pool, indoor heated lap pool and fitness centre, with a range of exercise equipment and free weights.

Golf
Kauri Cliffs recently underwent a renovation from world renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. The 5th hole received a complete redesign and was transformed from a long, uphill, forced carry par-3 to a short “drop shot” par-3. Other notable changes were the addition of tees on the 2nd and 9th holes and a bunker renovation on the 4th hole.
