Svart will be the world’s first energy-positive hotel, located close to the Svartisen glacier in Norway, north of the Arctic Circle. This bucket-list hotel will feature 100 rooms and a sustainable farm producing ingredients for the 4 restaurants. The hotel, a collaboration between Arctic Adventure of Norway, architecture firm Snohøetta, and Powerhouse, will use 85 per cent less energy than a traditional hotel, in addition to producing its own energy. Given the circular design of the hotel; rooms, restaurants and terraces are strategically placed to exploit the Sun’s energy throughout the day and seasons. The hotel’s roof features Norwegian solar panels produced with clean hydro energy reducing the carbon footprint.

This eco luxury adventure hotel will open in 2021 right at the edge of a black glacier on a remote Norwegian fjord and will feature breathtaking 360-degree views of surrounding pristine Arctic terrain and experience of living in proximity to nature.  The hotel’s futuristic, almost transparent, space ship design and circular frame will extend from the shoreline into the Holandsfjorden fjord and give guests panoramic views of the staggeringly dramatic landscape. Luxury will meet Arctic adventure at this destination: guests can practice yoga in the midnight sun, dive in spectacular waters, enjoy kayaking, go on spectacular hikes, take up ice fishing, harvest local delicacies and revel in the beauty of the Northern Lights.
