The Thief is Oslo’s newest and most talked about hotel to come on the scene and rightly so! The modern decor, design and its ethos is something the city hasn’t seen before and its popularity with both guests and locals is testament to the hotel’s success. The Thief has a superb location on the island of Tjuvholmen, meaning Thief Island. Once a dodgy part of town home to thieves and criminals, Tjuvholmen is now one of the smartest areas boasting contemporary art galleries, modern accommodation complete with decked rooftops and polished restaurants, all on the water’s edge overlooking the Oslofjord.
The Thief is not your average art hotel. Its permanent collection was curated by the former director of Norway’s National Museum of Art and its lounge hosts concerts, fashion shows, and book launches. The guest experience is equally exceptional. Breathe in the fresh sea air. Take in the stunning fjord views. Work out at the gym. Get a decadent Moroccan clay spa treatment and then dine on fresh catches and weekend brunch buffets. Explore Oslo and make memories no one can take away.
The Thief’s 116 rooms and suites are luxuriously decorated with rich colours, fabrics and soft furnishings and fitted with all the mod-cons including Geneva sound systems, docking station, Nespresso coffee machines and plasma TVs with movies on demand. Most bathrooms have walk-in showers while some have a bath as well. Free WiFi is available throughout.
There is nothing standard about THE THIEF, not even our Standard rooms. The same high quality runs throughout the hotel: The comfort, the efficiency and the cleverly thought out layout of the rooms. We are sure you will enjoy the bedside light control, the balcony, the creative selection in our in-room shop, the full body mirrors by the door – or our little prank of having an extra pillow in the closet even though there are already nine pillows on the bed.
Our 30 square meter superior rooms have the same sleek wooden floors and the floor-to-ceiling windows of our standard rooms. They are just a little more spacious. Sometimes a little extra leg-room is just what you need to fully enjoy your hideaway on our little island in the city.
Wake up to soothing views of the Oslo archipelago and the beautiful fjord. The stunning sea vistas from a private balcony could make you reluctant to ever leave your room. Should you decide to stay holed up in your little paradise, we’d be happy, of course, to bring your breakfast to your room.
Wake up to the stunning view of the Oslofjord. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony as boats and ships pass by the Astrup Fearnley museum. Our Premium rooms offer the best of all the room categories: enticing design, smart solutions and sense of space. And the views really do justice to the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Enjoy a different and stimulating hotel experience in this suite filled with video art, music, disco textiles and art installations signed by A-ha’s Magne Furuholmen and his Apparatjik supergroup. It also has a separate bedroom and views to the beautiful Oslofjord.
The Brit Suite
The Brit suite is a celebration of British design, art and culture. The rooms are inspired by the Swinging ‘60s with a contemporary luxury feel designed by Conran Interiors and Norway’s Eske. Add that to a relaxing canal view and you’re in for a splendid stay.
The Broom Suite
Named after and furnished by Lee Broom, an award-winning British designer, the Broom suite as-sures a comfortable and stylish stay. Separate bedroom, two bathrooms and canal view.
The Thief Suite
The spacious signature Thief suite on the 8th floor is a true haven. It features two balconies facing the beautiful Oslofjord as well as the canals of Tjuvholmen. It also features two bathrooms and the possibility for an extension of two bedrooms.
The Oslo Suite
Our largest penthouse suite boasts a private rooftop terrace overlooking the Oslofjord. This is 94 square meters of pure delight. It includes a separate bedroom, a dining room and original artworks by Sir Peter Blake to give the Oslo Suite the feel of an exclusive private apartment, but with our hotel service staff to top it off.
On the dining side, though Oslo is renowned for its cuisine, The Thief can compete on every level with the very best. There are three different restaurants and bars to choose from for a fabulous meal, whether it’s the renowned Thief burger from the Foodbar, or the sensational 5-course tasting menu from Fru K. A cocktail in The Thief Bar is not to be missed and is as popular with the locals as with guests. In the summer The Thief Rooftop bar opens up and is the perfect place to soak up the sun with a glass of wine.
For international fare with a Nordic twist, dine at this warm, elegant restaurant serving fresh fish, organic local meats and produce, and weekend brunch buffets.
Visit this sleek, sophisticated lobby bar for creative cocktails, savory snacks, and an opportunity to meet people from around the world..
Have a drink, listen to music, savor light summer fare, and unwind on the roof of THE THIEF with stunning views of the hills of Holmenkollen from April through late Autumn.
Thief Roof Foodbar
This outdoor deck restaurant and event area, open April through late Autumn, features glass walls, panoramic views, heat lamps, and delicious dishes like grilled meats and seafood.
Take a time out in the spa and sooth all the stresses and strains of life away while you unwind in the steam room, hot tub or sauna, and we definitely recommend booking a spoiling treatment.
