ACTIVITIES:

Mountain Bike

At the colonial town there is the famous market where inhabitants of different Andean communities come from far and near to sell and barter their products. We cross the bridge to start our bike ride, here, beside the Urubamba River, and continue approximately 40 km along a rural route, crossing the small farming communities of Taray, Lamay, Coya and Calca, where the principal corps are the
famous white maize of Urubamba. The routes we follow are almost all flat, and wind alongside the river which teems with herons, ibis and gulls who also accompany us on our journey. For lunch, we could stop at one of many colonial houses or in the shade of grand
old trees we see along the way.

Horseback Riding

Our eyes adjusting to spot the glaciers on the eastern cordillera of the Andes, after a few minutes, we find ourselves in an area used only by the few farmers. We continue towards the summit, encountering some steep mountain flanks which require some expertise and skill, but the challenge is well-worth it. At the summit, we once again find paths of the farmers who cultivated different grains on this plateau. We’re now at the highest point of our route only a few minutes from Moray. It’s about 1 pm when we arrive.

All Terrain Vehicles

We meet in the lobby of Sol y Luna and leave by van to the Piuray Lake, near Chinchero where our ATVs are waiting. After a brief informational orientation on ATV operation and safety, we begin our journey on easy terrain so we can familiarize ourselves with this vehicles. We visit the textile weaving communities of Cuper and Corcor, with their amazing views of Vilcanota mountains. We cross fields to Moray, where we can interact with the inhabitants who farm different varieties of potatoes and other tubers.

Kayaking

The experience of movement is what we offer through our adventure and sports activities, a wide range of entertaining, fun, cultural and emotional activities; which form ties with local inhabitants and make for an unforgettable experience. Kayaking on Huaypo lake surrounded by snowy Andean peaks is all of this.

Paragliding Tandem Flights

After a brief you will be ready to start the flight, an experience of a life time. According to weather conditions the takeoff will be done when the wind has the most favorable direction and speed. A success of the flight (about 30 minutes gliding over the Valley) is subject to this factor. If necessary we can try the flight a second time.

Peruvian Paso Horse Show

The Peruvian Paso Horse combines the virtues of Arabic, Berber and Andalusian breeds. Sol y Luna hosts a daily show demonstrating the elegance of their lilting and gentle gait to the rhythm of the Marinera, an Peruvian dance emblematic of Spanish Criollo traditions.

Traditional Andean Weaving

Sol y Luna invites a group of talented local women to demonstrate textile production, from the untangling of the natural wool fibers, to spinning and coloring with natural dyes made of flowers, roots and herbs according to ancestral techniques and preparation of the loom, as well as the mastery with which this ancient art is practiced.

Pottery Workshop

There is a long tradition of local potters in the area. They will show us the evolution that has taken place both in the designs
they use and their methods of production. Those who attend this interactive workshop will be able to take part with our artisans in the different stages of pottery-making and can take away the piece they will have produced together with the memories of this pleasant experience.

Theatre Presentation

In the relaxed coziness of our Wayra terrace, Sacred Valley’s Cusi Wasi theater company brings to life the myths, ritual and legends of Andean civilization. These gifted performers reveal vibrancy of Quechua culture through their dynamic acrobatics, striking iconography and uplifting music.

Organic Garden Tour

Many of our guests wish to appreciate the organic origins of our dishes at Sol y Luna and to learn about their connection to
traditional Andean cooking and culture. This pleasant, relaxed outing with our Chef to a nearby farm and the local market leads into the heart of Peruvian cuisine.

Cooking Class

A fully interactive session held in the Wayra kitchen, this is a hands-on opportunity to work side by side with our Sol y Luna
chef to prepare and present a three-course meal of traditional Andean dishes, culminating in dining on the fruits of your labor
at our intimate chef’s table.

Taste Of Peru

We kick off this culinary demonstration with the secret to making authentic pisco sours. Take your turn with the carving knife or
simply continue sipping as the instruction moves on to indigenous appetizers like ceviche, duo de ocopas and quinoa soup, followed
by a classic Andean lomo saltado. Along with watching and learning, rest assured this experience involves plenty of tasting too!
