Events In St Petersburg

St Petersburg is often called the capital cultural of Russia, but with all that’s going on here – classical ballet, theatre, museums and exhibitions, world-class sport – we think that entertainment and cultural capital of the world might be a better description!

St Petersburg is the city of Fabergé, and the original shop is only a short walk away from Kempinski Hotel Moika 22; so is Nevsky Prospect, fashionable since the early eighteenth century. In this most elegant of cities the shops are always an attraction by themselves…

St Petersburg is a sporting city – come for the tennis during the St Petersburg Open, for the yachting during the Volvo Ocean Race… football fans can watch games of the football club Zenit; and there is SKA for world-class ice hockey. Ask our concierge to get you tickets for the big game…

Restaurants, Nightlife And Getting Around

In St Petersburg a night at the opera followed by dinner and then on to a club is still the way of doing things – our concierge is a past master at getting best seats at the new Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, and dinner in one of the city’s many fine dining restaurants.

Theatres And Concert Halls

Tsarist Russia was famous for its Imperial Russian Theatres where Tchaikovsky presented his magical creations. Today, the most famous operas, ballets and classical music are still to be found in St Petersburg – at the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre; classical music at the St Petersburg Philharmonic Hall.

Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 St Petersburg Hotel

Experience the ultimate in Russian culture and luxury at the Kempinski Hotel Moika 22. Named after the canal by which it stands, the Moika 22 is right at the heart of the historical centre of St Petersburg and boasts incredible views. The Hotel offers fantastic views of some of the main cultural hotspots of the city, being a moment’s walk from the famous Hermitage museum, which is home to a collection of over 2 million works of Russian art and artefacts. The Palace Square and arguably the most well known street in Russia, Nevksy Prospekt, are within easy reach. Moika 22’s canal side location away from the main road means that sleep won’t be disturbed by the noise of the city centre.

The hotel opened in 2005, and offers understated luxury in a modern style behind its 19th century facade. Within the hotel itself one can become acquainted with the rich colours, impressive views and sumptuous cuisine that has made Russia so sought after in recent years. With a separate breakfast room, two restaurants and a bar (stocking some of the finest Russian vodkas of course!), guests will never tire of the variety of choices. An impressive wellness centre has also been established offering treatments designed to relax you after a day of exploring and to get you ready for whatever the evening may bring, whether it is a visit to the world famous Russian ballet or simply enjoying a few drinks with blinis and caviar at the aptly named Bellevue Brasserie.

The rooms are plushly decorated with good-quality furnishings, from the wardrobes to the wooden working desks. Bathrooms are spacious and clean, and mod-cons include safes large enough for laptops, televisions, but strangely for a hotel of this caliber, no coffee machine or kettle. Views are over the inner courtyard or, from the upper categories and suites, across the river. The more expensive categories come with extras like bathtubs and lounge areas; the Duplex Suites, which feel like apartments, have a split-level living room and bedroom system. The two-room Signature Suites have more stylish interiors (cobalt, greys, light beiges) and come with fine art, antique furniture and iron chandeliers. The Executive and Hermitage Suites have the best views over either the Hermitage Museum, Palace Square or Moika River Embankment.
