The Grande Provence Music School

The Grande Provence Music School is a development initiative for local children aged 12 – 18 during the school holidays. Attendance is free for all children. The music school’s objective is to complement the child’s existing knowledge and education, with a focus on music theory. Class sizes will be from one to four children and will take place in the Music Studio at Grande Provence.The inspiration for the music school was ignited by two things. Firstly, the abundance of vocal talent in the community and secondly, the need for developing a strong theoretical background if a young person is to succeed in higher education.



Garden & Art Tours

A relaxing and rewarding way to spend a few hours is a visit to Leeu Estates, a five-star getaway ensconced in 68 hectares (168 acres) of landscaped gardens, manicured vineyards and indigenous fynbos in the Franschhoek valley, and to take a guided tour of the gardens interspersed with artworks. The tours provide an opportunity to connect with art and nature in serene and meditative spaces with exceptional views.



Children's Activities

At Grande Provence we try to ensure the whole family has an enjoyable time with lots of great activities. Start on the journey of fine wine appreciation at Grande Provence with red and white grape juice ‘tasting’ especially for children. Colouring-in activities occupy the children while parents concentrate on enhancing their wine tasting skills. A jungle gym, with supervision occupies the children while parents linger over their lunch. Cycling and Hiking

If you are looking for outdoor adventure, Experience Franschhoek has it all. This adventure operator offers an online booking facility for all Franschhoek outdoor activities including guided mountain bike tours and hiking trails. For the more adventurous there is crocodile cage diving and an adrenaline pumping canopy tour.



Horses for Courses

Horse drawn carriages or horse rides up into the beautiful surrounding mountains and nature reserves. They have packages to suit everyone from the total beginner to the experienced horse rider. There are also bicycles that can be hired and many safe routes for rides in the Franschhoek Wine Valley.



Aquarium

The Two Oceans Aquarium is situated at the V&A Waterfront. It has more than 3,000 animals in nine galleries. There is a Children’s Activity Centre where they can enjoy watching the seals play, watch puppet shows or have their faces painted.



Ratanga Junction

A massive theme park just outside of Cape Town with plenty of rides will keep the entire family entertained for the whole day. With only a one-off entry fee to pay, the rides are for free and you can go as many times as you like.



Go Carting

Here the kids can go wild and drive around a track to their hearts content. Go carting is available at Canal Walk or at the Grand West Casino.

Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate is nestled within the Franschhoek Valley in the Western Cape, surrounded by mature oak trees and 30 hectares of lush established vines. It is located in the heartland of the South African wine country. Grande Provence was first established by European settlers at the start of the 18th century. The Wine Estate sits within the heart of South Africa’s wine country in the magnificent Franschhoek Valley. Vines flank the driveways and are interspersed with magnificent 300 year old oaks and manicured hedgerows lending the estate a stately gravitas. Boasting an award winning vineyard, the fine wines produced at Grande Provence are the beating heart of the estate. Guests can enjoy complimentary wine tasting and cellar tours, and the award-winning premium range Grand Provence wines are included in the rates for Guests staying at the Owner’s Cottage or La Provencal.

The Owner’s Cottage is available on a separate room basis, it is ideal for both couples and larger groups. La Provencal has recently been added to the accommodation options at the estate. La Provencal is made up of two suites, this option is already popular with small groups and families, or larger groups wanting to take over all seven suites in both buildings. Grande Provence is also home to a widely acclaimed art gallery. Showcasing some of the South Africa’s leading contemporary artists, the quality of the work on show has attracted attention from collectors, both within South Africa and Internationally.

The Owner’s Cottage offers luxurious and en-suite accommodation for a maximum of 10 Guests in five suites, including a deluxe Honeymoon Suite. The rooms are beautifully appointed and spread between a small grouping of historic Cape Dutch buildings. In the main building of the Cottage is a spacious lounge and modern, fully equipped kitchen and conservatory. Guests at the Cottage are able to take advantage of the swimming pool and the secluded spa pool, with views over the vineyards. The relaxing atmosphere of the outside loggia, adjacent to the pool is a great location for al fresco dining. The Cottage can either be shared on a Bed and Breakfast basis, or used exclusively by one party. Accommodation is also offered at La Provencal, a two bedroom cottage close to the Manor House. Popular with families and small groups for its privacy, La Provencal adds new options at Grande Provence.

The Bistro at Grande Provence is a relaxed alternative to more formal Franschhoek dining and offers daily specials such as quiches, pie of the day, salads and the most glorious cakes. Platters of local artisanal cheeses and fresh west coast oysters can be ordered separately.Another option is to enjoy a delicious and relaxing country-style picnic under majestic oaks in beautifully landscaped gardens amidst Franschhoek vineyards at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate during the months of September through to April inclusive. *Picnic baskets are available only by booking 48 hours in advance, and as we only have a limited number available daily, please book early to avoid disappointment. Grande Provence has been producing wines that have consistently met with the approval of the world’s top wine judges, both here and abroad, over recent years.

There are two pools; one at the Owner’s Cottage, and one private pool for guests staying in La Provençale Villa in the Vineyards. Recline on a sunlounger by day, and come evening, enjoy the warmth of a wood fire on the lantern-lit loggia overlooking the water. Book a facial by the pool or a massage in the peace and quiet of your own room; there isn’t a designated spa here, but therapists are on hand to perform pampering services all day long. Blend in with the surrounding greenery while striking a tree pose in a private yoga or Pilates class in the peaceful gardens of the Owner’s Cottage.
