An expression of love, the Bokkie Garden is very close to owner Analjit Singh’s heart. The Afrikaans word bokkie means small buck but is also a term of endearment used by South Africans, comparable to ‘beloved’ or ‘sweetheart’. Pivotal to the Franchesca Watson designed garden with its herd of small buck is ‘Reflective Resonance’ by acclaimed sculptor Angus Taylor. It is a powerful piece in bronze and Belfast granite that is set to become a Franschhoek landmark.

The Manor House
The elegant, spacious rooms and suites are either located at the refurbished 19th-century Manor House or around the estate amongst gardens, oak trees and vineyards. Each of the 20 individually styled rooms and suites are relaxed and elegant. The dark grey metal and glass windows allow for sweeping views across the valley. Under the original pitched Cape farmhouse roofline, a series of sumptuous common areas boast high ceilings clad in tongue-and-groove timber and wood-burning fireplaces with custom fireplace surrounds. The smoked, solid oak timber floor offsets the handmade rugs from Tibet. The bespoke furniture in materials such as shagreen, vellum, bronze and exotic wood finishes adds texture and interest. The colour palette of chocolate, taupe, smokey blues and greys creates a sense of luxurious calm enhanced by soft lighting emanating from the hand-forged chandeliers and a pair of mid-century Lucite table lamps. Contemporary art and objects hand-picked from the owner’s personal collection contribute to the eclectic styling that runs throughout the house.
