Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is a luxurious and highly exclusive lodge in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. The enormous suites at Ivory Lodge have true wow factor, a safari here is an unforgettable experience.Lion Sands is an award winning lodge situated in the wildlife rich Sabi Sands. There are eight beautifully appointed villas and one double villa, each with a separate living room, swimming pool and an open plan en-suite bathroom with an outdoor shower. Spacious glass-fronted bedrooms afford fabulous views onto the river bed below. Guests can sit by their private plunge pools and watch wildlife from their decks.

Ivory Lodge comprises of 8 Single Villas, and 1 Double-Suite Villa. The suites at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge are among the most spectacular in the Sabi Sands, space and absolute privacy are the most notable features. each suite enjoys the services of a private butler, but with a discreet service hatch, you need not even be disturbed to open the door. All Villas occupy an elevated position, with most overlooking the perennial Sabie River.
Each of the 8 Villas has been designed for privacy and optimum appreciation of the surrounding wilderness. Each Single Unit has; master bedroom with bathroom en-suite, double volume wardrobe area, outdoor shower in an indigenous garden forest, private lounge area with fireplace, private pool and expansive viewing deck, as well as a covered patio and free Wi-Fi. Children 10 years and older are welcome.

Two bedroom Fish Eagle Villa
The double villa comprises two single suites joined by a glass fronted private lounge, dinning room leading out onto a large deck with private pool. There is a private spa with double treatment room and well equipped gym. Children 10 years and older and welcome.
Chalkley Treehouse
The African landscape stretches as far as the eye can see at Lion Sands, and we knew we had to find a special place to capture and enjoy its vastness and splendour. Guy Aubrey Chalkley once set up camp in a majestic centuries old Leadwood Tree to escape predators roaming the plains below.We decided that this would be the ideal place to build the ultimate bush bedroom, the Chalkley Treehouse. The treehouse is a secure and lavish platform under the African stars, with all the comforts that a guest can experience at a five star safari lodge.We take our guests to the tree house at sunset, where drinks and a scrumptious picnic dinner await them.The hours of African dusk can be enjoyed relaxing and absorbing the vastness of the bushveld as it transforms from day to night, before turning in for slumber beneath the incredible night sky.
All meals are moveable feasts at Ivory Lodge. You normally eat on the mahogany deck of the main lodge which wraps around towering trees and looks out to the Sabie: this must number amongst the world’s most spectacular places to dine. Meals are also prepared at a second platform at the river’s edge, at a leadwood-lined boma or out in the Sabi bush. And you can always choose to dine in the privacy of your suite: meals are delivered via a ‘Buluwayo club hatch’, as is early morning tea and coffee before the game drives. Your waiter will discreetly bang a Shangaan gong as she or he approaches.
Restaurant and Lounge
Ivory Lodge’s cuisine would hold its own against that of any Michelin-starred restaurant and we’ve rarely seen such exquisitely presented food. Buffet breakfasts include a stunning array of meats, cheeses, fruits, juices and homemade breads, followed by whatever cooked breakfast variant you might like. Lunches are also often buffets with a choice of soups, salads, dips, samosas, fish cakes and mezzes, there’s also sushi and a selection of meat dishes, plus maybe ostrich bolognaise or rooibos-infused honeyed chicken pieces. Dinners are as good as they come, taking the form of big buffets out in the bush or set menus with a choice of starters, mains and desserts on the mahogany deck or in Ivory lodge’s dining room. Starters might be a grilled calamari steak, mushroom and white wine soup, a light Greek salad or smoked crocodile salad with a gooseberry and lemon vinaigrettes. Our main course choices included gemsbok fillet pocketed with fresh avocado, duck breast with black cherries, and Eland babotie. Ivory Lodge also has a cellar with an extrordinary selection of wines; food of this standard deserves a really good bottle. Alternatively try some of the other tipples on offer at the bar.

Facilities at Ivory Lodge include a private bar with large fireplace and art gallery. There’s a library, lounge and a television room tucked away for any sport fanatics. The wine cellar is extremely well stocked. Guests can choose from any of a number of wooden viewing decks, or the magnificent River Island Deck built on the river. For those in need of pampering or a bit of exercise, there’s Africology luxury spa and gym.
