ACTIVITIES:

Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, Lion Sands Tinga Lodge boasts nine luxurious suites set in a private concession within the famous Kruger National Park. Grand and gracious, the lodge is the perfect contemporary version of the colonial homestead. Each suite features vast wooden viewing decks with private plunge pools that look out onto the river. Double volume guest areas open out onto breathtaking wooden viewing decks that end mere feet from the waters of the Sabie River. A decadent spa invites guests to a range of relaxing treatments. Guests can indulge in a variety of game drives and bush walks, as well as birdwatching, astronomy, hippo walks, wildlife lectures and excursions to local villages.
We are always surprised at how a visit to Tinga can completely restore our energy after just a few days. When you’re right on the Sabie River, watching the animals and surrounded entirely by bush and sky, you really feel like you’re suspended in time and removed from the world as you know it. Tinga is an escape that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime. With just 9 luxurious suites, each located in an utterly private spot overlooking the river, guests are treated to the ultimate African luxury experience. Each of Tinga’s suites has a bathroom with a bath and shower, separate lounge area with minibar, private plunge pool and deck, 24 hour air-conditioning and a range of luxury amenities. Guests visiting Lion Sands must take the opportunity to stay in one of the jaw-droppingly cool treehouses. Perched high on stilts these platforms offer the chance to spend the night out under the stars in the heart of the South African bush.
There are just nine suites at Tinga Lodge, set on either side of the main lodge building. The king size beds are all convertible to twins and two of the rooms can accommodate a child sharing with their parents. Each is en-suite with outdoor showers and a private deck with plunge pool. The rooms are complete with both air conditioning and ceiling fans, luxurious mosquito nets and include mini-bars, and in room safe, telephones and hairdryers.
The Lion Sands Luxury Treehouses are the ultimate bush bedrooms. Arrive at sunset to a scrumptious picnic dinner, and spend the hours of dusk fully appreciating the vastness of the bushveld as it transforms from day to night. Slumber directly beneath the Milky Way where you may well lose count of the shooting stars. The Treehouses at Lion Sands are for the hopeless romantic (ideal as a wedding or anniversary treat), the adventurer, the person who needs a complete disconnect and digital detox, or the wildlife enthusiast who prefers the bush au-natural. All of the Treehouses are securely constructed above the ground, where animals will remain at a safe and comfortable distance. Our Field Guide will provide a full orientation when he drops guests off before sunset, and will remain on call via the radio left behind until it is time to leave the following morning after sunrise and a good cup of coffee!

Tinga Suite
These large, air-conditioned suites reflect a contemporary safari style and offer stunning views of the Sabie River. Big glass sliding doors open onto wooden decks with private plunge pools. The Tinga Suites feature comfortable open-plan lounges and dining areas, and the luxurious en suite bathrooms also boast beautiful river views.

Tinyeleti Treehouse
The Tinyeleti Treehouse, which aptly translates to ‘Many Stars’, is an overnight luxury treehouse wilderness experience that has no match. Watch the sun dip beyond the horizon as you sip on a cocktail or a glass of bubbly. You will be utterly riveted by the many animals that arrive at the river to quench their thirst.
Tinyeleti is a tale you will tell over and again. That is, if you can find the words to describe it. The 50m2 deck can accommodate 4 people, based on 2 adults and 2 children under the age of 15. We will provide you with a torch, and, even though there is no electricity, you will find a few bars of cellphone signal.
Meals are served outdoors, in the dining area or in the privacy of your own suite. Special diet menus can be arranged upon advance request. Scrumptious breakfasts and lunches are served on the deck at Lion Sands Tinga Lodge, allowing you to enjoy the views and watch wildlife as you dine. For dinner, a bush barbecue is held in the boma, where you can keep warm around the camp fire.

Dining Area
The lounge and dining area is great for socialising, and ending the day chatting with other travellers in the boma area is a luxury we always relish.Lion Sands Tinga Lodge pride themselves on delicious food and are also proficient at adapting their menus to suit specific dietary requirements, and special occasions.
After a day of exciting safari activity, relax in the lodge’s infinity pool or receive a pampering treatment from the Wellness Centre. In the evenings, keep warm around the campfire, serenaded by sounds of wildlife. Enjoy delicious cuisine paired with fantastic South African wine.
