The Marly Boutique Hotel Cape Town

The Marly, our five-star boutique hotel, takes its name from Chateau de Marly, built in the 17th Century for the leisure activities of Louis XIV and his family, says it all. It’s a real five-star showpiece with a contemporary beach ambience. Elaborate mirrors of varying shapes and sizes reflect the uninterrupted ocean and mountain views. Bilboa is one of six surrounding restaurants owned by the Kove group, all offering a different vibe (eg. Paranga is more fine dining; Surf Shack is casual; neighbouring La Belle is more bistro). You can order lunch or dinner from any Kove restaurant, and charge it to your room. Guests also enjoy direct access to the groovy rooftop bar Chinchilla but the hotel’s new pool bar, Baptiste, now trumps this as the most exclusive place in the city to watch the sun set.

Relax into luxury at The Marly Spa. Featuring 4 tranquil treatment rooms and separate manicure stations, the spa is the ideal place to meditate, escape city stresses or simply treat oneself. Get that Camps Bay glow or power up for the day ahead with a tailored workout in The Marly’s gym. For those wanting to experience Camps Bay to the fullest, The Marly’s elegant rooftop pool and lounge area offers 360° views of the Atlantic Ocean and the iconic Twelve Apostles mountain range. Camps Bay, under the Twelve Apostles mountain range, is a chic suburb on the trendy Atlantic Seaboard. Sidewalk cafes, bars and a casual, relaxed atmosphere make this spot a beachcomber’s paradise; while the sparkling nightlife attracts the young and the young at heart. It’s a mere seven minutes from the centre of Cape Town, one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

The views are what it’s all about and the predominantly white décor creates a great frame, regardless of which way you face. The new rooms are smaller but still perfectly spacious, with a seating area (Eames chair; thin-armed white leather sofa) next to the bed, plush carpets, and sliding doors onto a private balcony with table and two chairs. Ornate silver-framed mirrors are the only off-pitch note in this classy contemporary décor. All rooms come with good bathrooms (excellent showers in the new rooms; tubs only in the original 11 rooms); amenities include a minibar, air-conditioning, Nespresso and tea-making facilities, smart TV, DVD player and movies.
