ACTIVITIES:
Galle Fort was established by the Portuguese in the C15th, and was completed by the Dutch 100 years later. The British came in the C18th, and in 1988 it was designated a World Heritage Site.
Between December and April, take a boat trip to see these amazing creatures just an hour or so off the southern coast. Whilst out spotting Blue Whales or Sperm Whales, you may well see Spinner Dolphins and Bottle Nosed Dolphins. A truly enthralling experience.
Take a boat trip on Koggala Lake for approximately two hours, visiting Talathuduwa Temple Island, followed by a Spice Garden. Then back in the boat and on to a small island where you will meet a couple who harvest cinnamon. Finally in the boat you circle a Bird Sanctuary before returning across the Lake for the tuk tuk ride back to the hotel.
Explore the area on bicycles, and experince the real Sri Lanka. We can arrange an escorted bike ride down to the coast, via paddy fields, finshing up at Wijaya for a swim and a cocktail.
Visit nearby Handunugoda Tea Estate, to discover what goes in to making your favourite cuppa! Tour the factory, have a sample tasting and even see their speciality White Tea!
Visit one of the world’s 21 Biodiversity Hot Spots – Kanneliya Rainforest, The forest complex designated as a biosphere reserve in 2004 by UNESCO. The Kanneliya complex is the last large remainning rainforest in Sri Lanka.
There is a diving centre in Unawatuna, and also at Hikkaduwa, where you can explore an old shipwreck. Best months for diving are December through to April.
For beginners, Weligama Bay is a great place to learn to surf and there are some good instructors. For the more experienced, there are plenty of other beaches in the area, renowned for their surf.
Visit Udawalawe National Park, which was created in 1972 to provide habitat for wild animals, especially elephants. Covering 120 square miles, the park is inhabited by a herd of approx 250 elephants, as well as many other mammals and birds.
There are literally hundreds of Buddhist temples in the area, the most interesting being Yatagala and Kataluwa. Well worth a visit, especially on Poya (full moon day).
Enjoy one of our day time cruises on a fully crewed catamaran, either half a day or a full day. This can be combined with whale watching or just enjoying the ocean wave and some watersports thrown in for good measure! The boat can be hired for a private cruise, or a shared excursion.

KK Plantation Honeymoon Villa - Dubu: 85 sqm
Hide away from the world in this unique antique Joglo House imported from Java, featuring a heavenly lit-en-bateau bed, spacious seating area, ensuite cloakroom and two bathrooms. One bathroom is open to the skies with a central shower, and the other is an indoor bathroom, with shower and full size bath tub. The detailed architecture includes an incredible elaborately carved wooden ceiling, and woven palm walls interspersed with numerous french windows, offering a truly open feeling.
Take a cooling dip in the private infinity-edged curved swimming pool, and admire the stunning views overlooking Koggala Lake. should you wish, you can take your meals sitting under an ancient mango tree, around which wraps the swimming pool, or stroll up to the hotel – the choice is yours.






KK Plantation Luxury Pool Villa - Kadju: 100 sqm
Wtih far reaching views over the tea estate and jungle, this stunning new villa has everything. Entering via a shady pathway, the lobby has a banquette which can be used as a second bed. The huge bedroom has three full length french windows overlooking the verandah, plunge pool and tea estate. Painted in pale blue, with Indian prints, the central focus is the dramatic metal four poster bed with canopied top. The bathroom has a bathtub and large walk-in shower, as well as double handbasins. Relax in the infinitely edged pool and enjoy spotting the peacocks and monkeys on the estate.





KK Plantation Luxury Pool Villa - Kumbuk: 100 sqm
Set in its own large private walled garden, this cottage style villa offers the ultimate in privacy. The building is painted outside in traditional yellow lime wash, and inside the bedroom is very light with four sets of french windows overlooking the pool and garden. The bathroom has a bthtub as well as a walk-in shower, and double basins. To add to the luxury, there is also an outdoor shower. With plenty of places to sit and relax, inside and out, this villa is the ideal getaway.



KK Plantation Pool Villa Hellaconia: 70 sqm
Situated a little way from the main part of the hotel, KK Plantation Pool Villa – Hellaconia is approached via an old Jaffna door set into a wall. The villa is in a most luxuriant garden setting and offers total privacy for those who want to get away! There is a king-size four poster bed, antique furnture and the bathroom has double outdoor showers – for the ultimate shower under the stars! Please note that the bathroom is open to the elements and the only showers are outdoors.
There is plunge pool for those who don’t want to leave their own little sanctuary, and you can also have your meals in your room or in the garden.



KK Plantation Pool Villa Hibiscus: 80 sqm
This pool villa has incredible south-facing views overlooking the tea estate and Koggala Lake, and with the added benefit of its own infinity-edged plunge pool. Dressed in blues, this room has a slightly Mediterranean feel to it. From the moment you awake on the beautifully draped four poster bed, the spectacular view is always with you, beckoning you to step outside and relax all day beside your private pool until the sun sets and fills the sky with a spectacle of colours before your eyes.


KK Plantation Pool Villa - Nelum: 80 sqm
Accessed by a flight of steps from beside the Living Pavilion, this KK Plantation Nelum Villa has sensational views looking towards Koggala Lake. Decorated in cool green and white tones the interiors are soothing and relaxing with plenty of space to kick back and rejuvenate. The wrought iron four poster is beautifully draped, there is a comfortable sitting area bedside the window and a wide veranda to take in the awe-inspiring view. In addition, there are double showers in the luxury bathroom and two sun loungers in your private garden, for working on that tan!


KK Plantation Villa - Peacock: 100 sqm
This expansive KK Plantation Peacock Villa has an elegant and timeless monochrome colour palette, and boasts some of the most sensational views over the tea estate and Koggala Lake. The Peacock villa has a soothing and relaxed ambience featuring a romantic ebony king-size bed, a relaxed living area with its own library, as well as two bathrooms with outdoor showers. Please note that the bathrooms are open to the elements and the only showers are outdooors. To add to this sense of indulgence, there is a charming courtyard garden with a water feature, where guests can enjoy their meals in private, or they can choose to join the other guests in the Dining Pavilion.



KK Plantation Villa - Tamarind: 80 sqm

KK Plantation Suite - Garden: 70 sqm
Not for the minimalist, KK Plantation Garden Suite has a beautiful painted English 18th century style four poster bed, along with a selection of oil paintings and antiques. The traditional English décor creates a homely and comforting ambiance with modern touches for added convenience. The high ceilings ensure the room remains cool all year round, and there is a wide veranda with views of the garden for relaxing and/or eating – shared with the Tea Suite. Step outside to the ensuite bathroom where the refreshing outdoor rain shower can be found amongst tropical foliage. KK Plantation Suite - Tea: 70 sqm
Sharing its veranda with the Garden Suite, the KK Plantation Tea Suite has a pair of antique colonial style four poster single beds which can be converted into a king-size double bed. The high ceiling keeps the room cool and ventilated and the spacious veranda is a wonderful shady spot overlooking the gardens with comfortable lounge furnishings. The suite features a desk and an ensuite bathroom with double vanities and a tropical outdoor rain shower. Please note that the bathroom is open to the elements and the only shower is outdoors steps to via glass door.

Two of the three resident chefs have trained in Thailand, and offer a mouth-watering range of Thai dishes.
As important as the food itself, mealtimes are entirely at your discretion. At breakfast we offer a selection of local specialities as well as Western dishes. Lunch can be three courses, or you can choose from our Snack Menu. Dinner is a gourmet affair and if you would like a romantic dinner, may I suggest we set up a table in the garden for supper under the stars?

At KK we have a wonderful Spa Building, nestled in amongst the tea plantation, with a view to die for. There is a resident male theraphist, who will give you a relaxing body massage, using only the finest scented oils.

Gym & Home Cinema
With stunning views over the tea estate, there is a range of gym equipment and weights for those who want to work out, with or without a trainer. The room is also our home cinema, with an extensive range of DVDs and Satellite TV.

Yoga
During the season , there is a yoga class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8am with Deshara – a great way to start the day with some stretching, yoga and ending up with some meditation and relaxation. The class is for 60 minutes, and is suitable for all levels. In addition, we can organise Deshara to come and give you a private lesson, if you would prefer.
