ACTIVITIES:

Northern Lights Photography

A fantastic activity seen through a camera makes the experience many times better. This applies in particular to northern lights and images photographed under a star-lined sky. Your guide is the professional nature- and adventure photographer Håkan Hjort, who mainly has the taiga forest and the Arctic areas as his field of work. If you are interested he gives you tips on basic photography such as composition, exposure, lens selection and angles for taking pictures of northern lights and other phenomenon. Yes, maybe he can even photograph you with the northern lights in the background. We go to places where we have nice views to the north. The snow-covered forests, creeks and even the small forest roads make a great forefront to the night phenomenon, which takes place in the sky. With the help of the car, we can quickly move between different photo locations. Cameras with super wide-angle zoom are what we usually use to capture the night’s spectacle, of course with the camera on a tripod. You keep the memory card with the photos from the photo tour.

Nature Hike in Ecopark

A local Sami guide takes you on a 3 hour hike that is adapted to your level, experience and condition. During the hike our Sami nature guide guides you in animal tracks, wildlife, nature and local sami culture. The hike goes along a mountain ridge to a beautiful viewpoint. You will also visit a beautiful forest lake, this naturehike will offer a lot of photo oportunities. Swedish homebaked Fika and snacks are served during the hike so that your mood and blood sugar levels are on top.

Wildlife Photography

During the trip we look for moose, reindeer and birds to capture. We take the car to find the best photo locations for the day. Your guide is a professional wildlife and adventure photographer who works in the taiga and the arctic area. He will teach you the best ways to take great pictures in the arctic and show you his favorite spots in the area. We will stop at a few different locations to explore the nature’s diversity with our cameras. The snowshoes can be used if we are to follow a stream in the deep snow. If we are lucky we might see tracks of the rare otter. In an unspoiled spot we will enjoy warm beverage and home baked pastry.

Husky Sled Ride / Horse Riding

Husky Sled Ride: Experience the feeling of sliding in a snowy, untouched and quiet winter landscape sitting on the reindeer fur on the guide sled. Take part of the teamwork and the trust between the driver and our happy and enthusiastic dogs who love to work in front of the sled in their right element. Horse Riding: Seeing our nature riding on a horse is a fantastic way to experience something unique. When you arrive at the ranch you will meet a fantastic team who will give you all the instructions you need before going out on your horse. They will make sure you have the right equipment and show you how to saddle a horse. During the day you will ride through forest, experience unique nature and wonderful views on the calm horse. We will also stop for a nice meal by an open fire.

Snowmobile Safari

Expedition starts in the morning with an educational part where your guide will inform you about safety and how to handle the touring snow mobiles. Then we will start our journey passing through forest landscapes with different characters of nature, moors and thick snowcovered pine forest. After some hours of driving we will stop for an outdoor lunch, sitting around the campfire on warm reindeer skins. Chances to see mooses, reindeers and other wildlife are normally good.

Ice Fishing

Our fishing guide will teach you the tricks of the trade and show you his favourite ice fishing spots on a private forest lake.

Cross Country Skiing / Snow Biking / Snowshoe Hiking

Cross Country Skiing: On this lovely ski tour you will make a half day, 3 hour tour in the forest area looking at animal tracks and learn about the boreal forests of Lapland. Halfway we make a stop for outdoor fika. After our break we will continue through the spectacular landscapes in the huge pine forests. Great opportunities to spot moose in the Winter landscape and black grouse. Snow Biking: And you are in for an exclusive experience. Biking on snow, through the old woods and open meadows, maybe seeing moose and reindeers. Biking on the frozen Lule river and areas you can’t cross in the summer is the freedom of biking during winter. The tour starts from the Arctic Bath in Harads after a short introduction on how to bike on a fatbike. About half way we take a break to fuel up with some tea and home baked pastry before taking on the last part of the tour. Fatbike is like a mountainbike but with balloon tires that makes it easier to bike on soft surfaces. And much more fun since you reach areas you can’t reach otherwise. Fatbike is discovered by more and more people. Snowshoe Hiking:  Snowshoes, the easy way to get out on an adventure. We will, in a wonderful and pleasant way, discover the forests and the beautiful environment along the river without much effort. “If you can walk then you can walk with snowshoes”. The tour starts from the Arctic Bath in Harads. Depending on the ice conditions and the amount of snow we start directly from the hotel or take the car for a maximum of 10 minutes. We have several nice areas close by for our little venture on snowshoes. During the hike we will take a break to fuel up with some tea and home baked pastry before taking on the last part of the tour. The taiga forest that we explore extends across the entire northern hemisphere. With a little luck we can see both moose as well as reindeer. Perhaps even the birds of the forest that winters in this cold climate.
