ACTIVITIES:
Feel the sun on your face and the powdery snow under your skis all day long: on 350 kilometres of slopes. Corviglia, the “backyard mountain” of St. Moritz, along with the Corvatsch and Diavolezza ski resorts, all offer you an exceptional skiing experience. In fact it’s easy to imagine yourself as a world champion on these slopes! In addition, the numerous restaurants, ski huts and snow bars serve everything from light meals to fine dining and plenty of après ski fun. From two nights, guests receive a ski pass for CHF 38. In February 2017, the Alpine Ski World Championship took place in St. Moritz. For the Engadin, this has been the fifth World Championship, following on from the events in 1934, 1948, 1974 and 2003.
The Swiss paradise of silver trails offers spectacular cross-country skiing possibilities in every respect – unique scenery, top track quality, and unsurpassed snow safety. Whether you want to train for the Engadine ski marathon, test your limits on the race tracks or prefer to glide along the illuminated night trails at a later hour, you will find the right cross-country ski trail for your every whim.
There is a tradition of Ice as well as snow sports in the Upper Engadine. You can try a pirouette on our hotel skating rink. Play a game of curling with friends, or chase the puck in the Ludains ice arena.
Imagine speeding headfirst down the ice track at the break-neck speed of 140 km per hour; your nose only just above the ice. Since the 1884/85 winter season, excited participants have felt the big surge of adrenaline on the legendary Cresta Run. For anyone who tries it, Cresta racing soon becomes an addiction. The adventure, tinged with danger, is what makes racing down the Cresta Run on a fast skeleton bobsled so alluring to enthusiasts.
Olympic Bob Run St. Moritz-Celerina
In the mood for some action? A ride down the bob run St. Moritz-Celerina equals a 75-second adrenaline surge. Anyone daring to thunder down the world’s only natural ice run as a passenger aboard a four-man bob with pilot and brakeman, will be put to the test at the dramatic “horseshoe” bend (if not before) but will receive a “diploma” after reaching the end in one piece.
Engadin St. Moritz offers a variety of long and short toboggan runs. The classic run is the Muottas Muragl. Another highlight is Switzerland’s famous snow roller coaster “Preda-Bergün”, which is only a 20-minute train ride away from St. Moritz.
The best way to experience the natural world is still by hiking. In the Engadine St. Moritz region, winter hikers will find numerous possibilities that include the pram-friendly footpath and the easy woodland trail.
Fancy going off with your loved ones on a relaxing carriage ride for a few hours? View the splendid Engadine scenery in comfort wrapped in blankets and furs while crossing the frozen Lake St. Moritz, or go further afield to the beautiful lake Lej da Staz that is surrounded by forest. Other classic trips include rides to the Val Roseg or Val Fex side valleys. Our concierge will be happy to arrange for a carriage to pick you up in front of the hotel.
The number of hiking possibilities is almost endless in the scenic landscapes of Engadin St. Moritz. Ride in a comfortable mountain railway up the Piz Nair, Corvatsch or Diavolezza – which are all well over the 3,000 metres mark –and hike in one of the many mountains with panoramic views, such as Corviglia, Signal or Muottas Muragl. Hotel guests staying for at least two nights can enjoy free travel on all mountain railways in the Engadin St. Moritz region as well as public transport in the valley (bus and RhB). For hiking possibilities a little further afield, we suggest you explore Switzerland’s national park, which is only a stone’s throw away from St. Moritz.
Mountain bike enthusiasts have seen some exciting innovations around the Upper Engadine in recent years. Three new flow trails have been created on the St. Moritz’ backyard mountain Corviglia alone. Together with another 400 kilometres of trails, the St. Moritz railway tour and trails like the “Bernina Express”, no biker needs to stick around in one place for too long. There are arduous ascents to magnificent viewpoints, adventurous pass crossings and challenging single trails; but also comfortable valley tours and side valleys with wide paths for the family bike are waiting to be explored. And that’s not all. Bikers can take the mountain railway in Celerina and St. Moritz to popular points of departure for bike tours.
As a trend sport, Stand Up Paddling has been surging on a wave of popularity in recent years. Originally conceived with the idea of riding waves, the sport has evolved even further so that stand up paddling is now possible on lakes, too, as part of an enjoyable tour. The Engadin mountain lakes in the morning hours make for a particularly idyllic experience.
Tennis players will love our courts at the entrance to the Chesa al Parc. The facility is open both to hotel guests and external visitors, and can be reserved in advance. Rackets and tennis balls are available for hire for a fee of CHF 5.
Engadin St. Moritz is a paradise for alpinists of different abilities. As soon as the winter is over, the summer climbing season begins and the prime alpine conditions accompany climbers right into October.
Kiting, surfing and sailing. The frisky Maloja wind that plays over the beautiful Lake Silvaplana at an altitude of 1,800 meters, makes for the great wind and kite surfing scene here. Sailing enthusiasts, on the other hand, swear by Lake St. Moritz. And if the wind fails, you can row or do the rounds on the stand-up paddle board.
All the sunshine in the Engadine warms up the mountain lakes to over 20°C – perfect for cooling off after a cycling or hiking tour. As well as making for great bathing, the three scenic St. Moritz lakes Lej da Staz, Lej Nair, and Lej Marsch are wonderful spots for simply relaxing, picnicking or having a barbecue at one of the barbecue areas..
The Engadine has been regarded as the Alpine golfing paradise for over 125 years now, thanks to the region’s incomparable landscapes and panoramic views. The Kulm Golf course, which is nestled harmoniously in the high alpine landscape, definitely makes for an unforgettable golfing experience.
St. Moritz and shopping have always been a perfect combination. All the top designer boutiques are here, from Chanel and Gucci to Louis Vuitton. You’ll also find the traditional sporting goods shops, of course, alongside souvenir and gift shops as well as an impressive array of delicatessens, which all make up the colourful shopping experience in the Alpine metropolis.

Everyone dreams of flying, until the day you grow wings.» is what Paracelsus wrote. The physician, philosopher and alchemist was in St. Moritz in 1535 when he dreamt about flying. Whether one is able to grow wings or not, a flight over the Engadine is a unique experience. We can help make this dream become a reality: take off with a helicopter and admire the beauty of the Engadine from above

The gorgeous views of the Engadine valley and lake impresses all who visit, and the historical and traditional style combined with heartfelt service reflects the warmth of the hotel. The hotel facilities include a nine-hole golf course, three outdoor tennis courts and the Kulm Spa St. Moritz for guests’ enjoyment.
