ACTIVITIES:

Saas-fee

Saas-Fee and the Saastal Valley are surrounded by no less than eighteen 4,000-metre peaks! Its breathtaking landscape of beautiful mountains and glaciers is simply amazing to behold. Perfectly groomed ski slopes reach from 3,600 metres right down to the villages. It has just been rated as the Alpine ski resort with the most reliable snow cover. A great network of cableways skiers and snowboarders up into the mountains. On top of that, Saas-Fee also offers plenty of other winter sports opportunities such as sledging ice climbing, snowshoe trails, winter hiking, Bavarian curling, cross-country skiing and much more.

The Valley

Known as the Napa Valley of Switzerland, the Valais has been producing wine since the third century AD. More than 40 grape varieties flourish on terraced vineyards clinging to the slopes of the Rhône Valley. This rugged terrain produces wines full of vigour and character. Wooden canals irrigate the vineyards with melted snow and ice. Stroll along the canals, stopping to sample vintages at small, scenic wineries along the way.

For The Family

At The Capra, kids are just as important as the Mums & Dads. We will give them their own room, right next to their parents in our family suites. Just like their parents we also give them direct access to the slopes and if they are in a hurry to put on their skis we’ll drive them there in The Capra electro, and in the evening they can return to a cup of hot chocolate to drink on the terrace or at the bar. If they’ve never skied before we can also arrange for lessons with one of the local Saas-Fee ski schools.

Ski

From our ski cabin enjoy more than 150km of groomed pistes and extensive off-piste skiing. Check out our available services and our international team of professional ski instructors with broad knowledge in the following skiing options: On-piste Performance, Freeride, Heli-skiing, Racing, Freestyle & Telemark. Choose from three freestyle pistes: the winter park in Morenia (2600m), the summer park on the Mittelallalin (3600m), or the beginners’ park at Stafelwald (1900m). Finally, there are a number of cross-country ski trails that one can enjoy across the Saas valley.

Ski Safari

Ski Safari is a must for those that want to explore new terrain each day by visiting nearby ski resorts, many of which are true “hidden treasures”. There are more than 5 resorts within an hour drive, including; Grächen-St. Niklaus, Blatten–Belalp, Riederalp & Zermatt. We would be happy to organise for all the logistics to make this an unforgettable experience.

Snowshoeing

If skiing isn’t for you, snowshoe trekking is definitely worth a go. There is a wide range of guided tours on offer throughout the valley so you are guaranteed to experience the same beautiful views and clean, crisp air of Saas-Fee!

Sledging

One of the highest roller coasters in the Alps, the Feeblitz bobsleigh run blends in beautifully with the landscape. With a 360-degree loop followed by a serious of jump bends, it’s not for the faint-hearted. The 5km toboggan run (starting at Hannig) zips through the ravishing glacial scenery. At night, you can toboggan down by torchlight.

Ice Sports

Be it ice skating, curling or ice stock sport, spending a few hours on the ice is one of the oldest winter pleasures in the book. Plus, it’s the perfect activity for groups of friends, just give it a try under the guidance of one of our experts. We can promise you a whole lot of fun, not only because of the spontaneous twists and twirls but also because afterwards, the mulled wine and apple punch are going to taste better than ever!

Hiking

Whether you’re interested in a gentle hike or a high altitude Alpine tour, the Free Republic of Holidays, Saas-Fee is a diverse outdoor paradise where, across 350km of trails, your view of the impressive 4,000-metre peaks is constantly changing. With access to professional mountain guides, you’ll also have the chance to climb those peaks. The easiest climb is the Allalin (4027m above sea level), starting from the mountain station of the world’s highest tram: the Metro Alpin.

High Ropes

With the right safety gear (included in the entry price), there’s a whole forest of climbing fun to be had in the Adventure Forest of Saas-Fee. Even our smaller guests can have a go on the discovery obstacle course, swinging from tree to tree. This ever-popular large obstacle course has been extended and now guarantees two hours of thrills and spills. The highlight: Europe’s longest Tyrolean zip-line across the Fee gorge – 280m there, 210m back.

Tennis

Whether you’re playing singles or doubles, tennis is even more fun when set against the high altitude Alpine backdrop of Saas-Fee. There are four outdoor fields in Saas-Fee, three in Saas-Grund, and two in Saas-Almagell. It’s highly unlikely that a match will be interrupted by rain either – in Saas-Fee, the sun shines four days out of five.

Scootering

With not one, not two, but three scooter tracks, Saas-Fee guarantees super speedy descents and unbridled action. A 3.5km-long paved road, wide and easy to ride on, runs from Furggstalden down to Saas-Almagell. From Hannig, you can hop on your scooter for 5.5km on a natural track, whizzing through the glorious scenery to Saas-Fee. Finally, the ultimate downhill kick awaits on the 11km track from Kreuzboden to Saas-Grund on dirt scooters!
