ACTIVITIES:
Day-long game drives are a must in the Serengeti. You can set-off early with champagne picnic breakfast and stay out all day carrying your delectable picnic lunch. You will be delighted and awed by the sheer numbers of game including the big-five.
Serengeti Pioneer Camp has special permission from the park authorities to use a private picnic site on top of a hill offering stunning views over the Serengeti plains, that can be enjoyed in total privacy. Pre- booking is necessary.

Lake Magadi is a large soda lake, and seasonally home to thousands of pink flamingo, a sight to behold. Year round the lake is home to numerous bird species to be enjoyed, and is an easy drive from camp.
A rocky outcrop with great historical significance to the Maasai people, Moru Kopjes features ancient maasai paintings on many of its boulders. Another fascination of the kopje, are the gong rocks, a geological phenomenon of rocks that produce musical sounds when hit, which were used as a communication tool by the Maasai people.

Guest accommodation consists of ten standard tents and one family tent. All occupy the slopes of the hill, and each tent is very spacious. At the front, a length of canvas is rigged up over wooden decking to create a veranda. Set with chairs and a table, this is a great spot for relaxing and marvelling at the scenery! Inside every standard tent, you’ll find either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds with mosquito nets, bedside tables and lighting, a couple of storage trunks, a writing desk and chair, a seating area, and ample storage furniture. The palette is mainly neutrals and earth tones. To one side of the bedroom, behind a floor-to-ceiling wooden board, there’s a flush toilet, washbasin within a vanity unit, and step-up shower. The family tent is effectively two standard tents joined together, and triple rooms are available too.

Ensuite Luxury Safari Tents
Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp has eleven Ensuite Safari Tents that are convertible twin/doubles. Each tent is furnished in a traditional safari-style and has the feel of a 1930’s mobile safari camp, with modern day luxuries.

Family Ensuite Tent
An incredibly spacious family tent comprises of a double ensuite tented room and twin ensuite tented room adjoined by a sitting room area.
The lounge contains sumptuous seating around coffee tables, a number of trunks used as occasional tables, and a few classic campaign chairs too. The dining room is found in a tent that’s similar in style to the guest accommodation, complete with veranda area. Inside, chic separate tables are flanked by more campaign chairs, and there’s a well-stocked bar. This is the setting for hearty breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, although guests are welcome to dine al fresco or request a picnic lunch if they plan to be out all day.



Dining
The views are spectacular, the sunsets and cocktails on the sunset deck are an experience not to be missed. Dine under the brilliant African skies. A dining tent hosts the Camp’s guests for both breakfast and dinner, whilst luncheons are taken either in the Camp or in the bush during what will no doubt be yet another enthralling day in the Serengeti.
The camp has a plunge pool too, which is the perfect place for cooling off in between activities!
