Olakira camp Asilia

Moving with the motions of the Great Migration, Olakira Migration Camp ensures spectacular wildlife-viewing opportunities of one of the most dramatic events to take place in the natural world. Watch with bated breath as herds of wildebeest cross the Mara River infested with crocodiles, and as calves are stalked by cheetah and lion on the Serengeti Plains. Following the perennial circle of life, the Great Migration has long been revered as one of the most awe-striking sights to behold in the animal kingdom. The murky waters of the Mara River tell a tale of bloodshed and triumph as its banks are flooded with hippos, crocs, and passing herds of wildebeest and ungulates.

Seasonally, Olakira finds itself in the Ngorongoro Crater Area, giving guests a chance to see this part of the landscape, too. The camp’s nine stargazing tents (including a family tent) blend seamlessly with their environment. Sleep peacefully in your king-size beds, or enjoy a sundowner from the chaise lounge on your private verandah. The trees surrounding the camp are dotted with flickering lanterns, adding an ethereal air to your fleeting nomadic existence.

Olakiri Camp is a warm and intimate experience, with eight spacious and comfortable tents sleeping up to 16 guests. Each tent has a king-size bed, en-suite bathroom and private verandah, arranged to offer the best views over the Serengeti. The Camp’s semi-permanent nature means that one really feels at one with the landscape, but without foregoing the usual comforts such as hot showers, toilets, and storage space for clothes. The large and spacious walk-in tents in natural browns, creams and oranges, are designed to blend into the Serengeti’s own palette. Floors are covered with rugs. The tents’ gauze windows have canvas flaps that can be opened to let in the cooling African breeze and for your own personal views of the National Park.

Olakira Camp Double Room

Double Room

Olakira’s nine tents offer a modern take on the vintage charm of East Africa. Each has a king-sized bed (twin beds are available) complete with rich linens, an under-cover veranda with comfortable chaise longue, and en-suite bathroom and dressing area with hot-water safari bucket showers and flushing toilets.

Olakira Camp Family Tent

Family Tent

Olakira Mobile Camp features 2 family or triple tents. These tents are spacious and have king sized, double and single beds to suit guests individual needs while staying at Olakira Camp. The tents also feature en-suite bathrooms, flushable toilets and bucket showers. The tents also have incredible views of the surrounding landscape.

Olakira’s communal lounge and dining areas occupy one tent apiece. These tents are also spacious, and with a pleasant airy feel. In the lounge, there’s plenty of comfortable seating around coffee and occasional tables, and the living space flows out onto the veranda to offer amazing views.

Olakira Camp Dining Room
Olakira Camp Outdoor Dining

Dining Tent

The dining tent features a long table and campaign-style chairs for communal meals, which include continental or full English breakfasts, buffet lunches, and delicious three-course dinners! Guests can also opt to eat breakfast and lunch within the grounds. And the camp’s fire-pit is the place to be for pre-dinner drinks, sharing your stories of days on safari.

The washing facilities are found at the back of the tent – here you’ll find an enclosed flush toilet, a vanity unit with washbasin and mirror over, and a separate bucket shower. There’s also a storage unit, which holds a couple of colourful bathrobes. Free toiletries are provided, as is washing powder for ladies’ underwear. At the front of the tent, there’s a lovely veranda, where you can relax and enjoy your views over the river or across the plains! The family tent benefits from all the features of the standard tent, and it’s sufficiently spacious to sleep a maximum of two adults and four children.
