ACTIVITIES:
Enjoy a comprehensive view and walk in Stone Town, and attain a deeper insight into the rich cultural heritage and history of the island of Zanzibar.
Experience the beautiful Minai Bay Conservation Area whilst cruising in one of the traditional Zanzibari dhows. Get a chance to see the dolphins, as well as swim on one of the pristine sandbanks. Your tour will also visit some of the nearby islets and provide opportinuties to snorkel at the coral reefs. Your full-day includes snorkeling equipment with guides and instructions and a sea food barbeque with fish, calamari and slipper lobster served hot from the grill.
Following a short 10-minute transfer arranged by the hotel, you will join the dhow crew who in turn will warmly welcome you aboard a wooden sailing dhow. This hand-crafted dhow, constructed with the same traditional techniques that have been used for a thousand years, willl then take sail to begin what will be an undeniably memorable 2-3 hour journey along the coastline of north-west Zanzibar. As part of this exotic and iconic experience, you will have the opportunity to snorkel in the warm and soothing ocean and admire the marine life that can be found along the Kendwa reef. Snacks and a selection be provided ahead of your return to Kilindi and your evening dinner.

Located 50 minutes from exotic Stonetown. The villas have been designed to give you the ultimate privacy with a living room, kitchen and private plunge pool. Every villa has a plunge pool, private butler, outside shower, bathroom(s) with his & her sinks, linen and towels provided, daily housekeeping and laundry service, Internet/Wi-Fi, lounge & kitchen with fridge, beach access.
Here you can enjoy exceptional cuisine prepared by the resident chef, handpicked wines from around the world, a pool area to relax by, and a beautiful beach with the warm Indian Ocean a few short steps from each villa. Inspired by Swahili cuisine, the chef blends locally sourced vegetables and home grown herbs, freshly caught seafood and Zanzibari spices, with an international gourmet style. The Kiota Spa invites guests to relax and recharge: massages, manicures, pedicures and treatments are offered in-room or in the spa right at the beach. For the adventurous, Xanadu’s helpful staff can arrange a variety of adventure & cultural excursions around the island.
Xanadu has six individual villas, each with either one or two bedrooms. The villas are all uniquely designed, and each contains a living area, kitchen and private plunge pool. Bathrooms contain double basins, as well as providing an outdoor shower. Rooms are decorated with light colours and a muted palette, ensuring each feels bright and airy.
Umande - Dewdrop
Umande is a cosy one-bedroom villa surrounded by a luscious tropical garden. Secluded and hidden away, this villa is ideal for couples.
Alfajiri - The Dawn
Alfajiri is a two-storey, one-bedroom villa with views over the Indian Ocean. The ground floor features the living and dining area, which leads out to the plunge pool, while the first floor contains the bedroom, en-suite bathroom and private balcony.
Kimwondo - Shooting Star
A two-storey, one-bedroom villa, Kimwondo displays some of Xanadu’s most unique architecture. The ground floor contains the bedroom and en-suite bathroom, and upstairs, the terraced lounge and rooftop plunge pool await. Private rooftop dining is available.
Korongo & Mlima
These two-bedroom sister villas are the perfect hideaway for families. Each has a spacious living and dining area, and each master bedroom has a large en-suite and its own private entrance.
A resident chef is available at Xanadu Villas, offering a high standard of cuisine, made to order. Inspired by Swahili cuisine, the chef blends locally sourced vegetables and home grown herbs, freshly caught seafood and Zanzibari spices, with an international gourmet style… presented beautifully in delicate portions. In-villa
Each villa at Xanadu is serviced by a private butler. A resident chef is also available to prepare in-villa meals made to order according to guests’ tastes. Meals can be taken in villa or on private rooftop terraces.
The swimming pool is at the heart of the property, with loungers and a bar and restaurant around it, lit up by lanterns at night. Down at the beach, there are more than enough loungers and swinging two-person hammocks, plus kayaks, SUP boards and other ways to get active, and a small spa with one air-conditioned treatment room and a circular spa pool.
Pool
All six villas surround the central pool at Xanadu, which provides a larger alternative to the individual plunge pools. The main dining area is also located by the pool, and delicious meals are served in this relaxing environment. Dishes are inspired by traditional Swahili cuisine, and brought to life with locally-grown vegetables and freshly-caught seafood.
Spa
The Kiota Spa invites guests to relax and recharge: massages, manicures, pedicures and treatments are offered in-room or in the spa right at the beach.Products used by Xanadu Villas’ professional therapists are from Africology, or locally sourced and produced.
