Local Fishing

Following a leisurely breakfast, don a hat and sunscreen before taking a short stroll down to our boat where The Club’s fishing tackle and bait are ready and waiting. A cooler box is available to quench your thirst with fishing trips returning to The Club before lunch.

Sunset Cruise

In the later afternoon, enjoy a leisurely sundowner cruise up the Zambezi.When the captain sees fit he will switch off the engine and let the boat drift quietly downstream passing the odd elephant, hippo or crocodile and an abundance of colourful bird life. The sunsets are particularly beautiful during the drier months.

Tour of Victoria Falls

Just half an hour’s drive from The River Club are the mighty Victoria Falls. Known by the locals as ‘Mosi–oa-Tunya’ (meaning ‘the smoke that thunders’) as the spray and the sound of the Falls can be seen and heard from many miles away.

African Village Tour

Visit an authentic village to experience life as it really is in rural Africa. A short drive takes you to a local village where you will be shown all aspects of African village life. Visits to either Simonga or Sinde Villages allow guests to spend quality time in the environment of these traditional African settlements, meeting local residents and visiting children at their school.

Game Drive to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park

The highlight of a game viewing trip in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park is the chance of seeing White Rhino, some of the only remaining in Zambia. The park is home to a wide variety of animals including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, elephants and buffalo. Drives are approximately three hours long.

Canoeing Safaris

The River Club is a charming oasis on the Zambezi River, situated 18 kilometres upstream from the town of Livingstone, Zambia and the renowned Victoria Falls – a World Heritage Site and one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. 11 luxury suites (including three with private plunge pools and one 2-bedroom villa), with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors, are renowned for their romantic ambience and spectacular views over pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park. Each room looks west into the glorious African sunset, best viewed from the privacy of the ball-and-claw bath. Soaked in ambiance and history, the restored 1940s Edwardian homestead has a comfortable lounge, dining room, library and veranda where breakfasts and teas are enjoyed. Midday meals are often served in the lush gardens spread out beneath the trees. The gazebo and the Summer House (with snooker room) provide alternatives for private dining.

The pool seems part of the river itself, a secluded deck provides respite and beauty treatments are available in the Wellness Centre. For the energetic, the running track on the secure property and gymnasium and all-weather tennis court are perfect. A host of activities await young and old, on property as well as around the Victoria Falls. Activities (on an inclusive rate) include a Victoria Falls Tour on the Zambian side, sundowner cruises, tiger fishing, and visiting a nearby village. Others (extra cost) include white water rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling, canoeing, and flights over the Falls. The area is steeped in local history and rich in wildlife; hippo and elephant are seen regularly and birdlife is prolific.

Accommodation is in 10 luxurious cottages including one family room. The rooms are spread out amongst the riverine vegetation, and all have en-suite bathrooms, most being split-level. Their originality stems from the fact that one side is completely open to the river, so that there is an uninterrupted vista of the Zambezi and its far bank from both bed and bath.The latest addition is the Princes Mary Suite, an airy two bedroom house with stunning river views with a private plunge pool, lounge and dining area.
